Hi all, I'm in the UK and thinking of picking up the i5 during black friday. Does it come with a protective case or will I need to buy one separately?

Amp3 have it in stock for £399 now and regularly have a 10% code if you don't want to wait.  I tend to find Black Friday fairly underwhelming in the uk tbh.

the OEM case is not recommended as the i5 can easily slip out

noticed that after i gotten the case but solve the problem by stuffing a thin piece of folded paper on the left side, between the dap and the case, tight fit now

OEM case is sold separately unless there is some bundle offer. However, the OEM case is not recommended as the i5 can easily slip out. Get the case which is sold on Etsy.

I think that was the first production run. The case that Andy sent with the US Tour i5 this just fine with no worries about the DAP slipping out.

Great, so my 25 USD for the first case are down the drain because due to sloppy production. If being aware of it there should be an option to exchange it or to purchase a new one at a massave discount. However, am happy with my Valentinum-case now!

Seems dignis still does not have the i5 on their to-do list...

I jumped the gun when I said the folder browsing issue was fixed. Some folders are sorted properly, some are not. They are all formatted the same.

Maybe the unit is sorting by modification date? Which was the last folder added, etc...?

As there is quite a number of people who have issues with the loose fit of the OEM case it seems that there either was an issue with the first batch of produced cases or there is generally a (too) high tolerance in production.

I put forward a strong complain to the production service after I read the comment from users, .... I do this quite often

I hope they can improve their quality after my complaint, and looks like they have. . :D

Hi guys.

I'm now in the market for a new DAP. I currently have a x5i. I'm now choosing between the i5 and the Fiio x7.

The sound sig I prefer is neutral to a tad bit of brightness. With that said, I find my x5i to be warm for my taste.

Is there any reason why I should go for the Fiio x7 instead of the Cayin i5?

Thanks.

You probably won't like the i5, then. It's quite warm. At least as much so as the X5 Classic. Maybe a touch more so.

The X7 is what I would call dead neutral. A little too neutral for my tastes. I prefer the Cayin i5. But you would almost certain like the sound of the X7 better.

Personally, I don't think there's any question that build-wise, the i5 is superior. I'm going to give it high marks on that in my review. It's excellent.

The X7 isn't bad, either. ;)

Both are great products from great companies.
