I am running Solaris on N8 and I am not sure if I ever heard any hiss from the source itself.

Finally arrived today, happy to report that the wm1z does not hiss at all on the unbalanced out, with stock SLitz cables on the Campfire Solaris. It is early days, but already the sound stage imaging of the wm1z seems to be wider and airier than the Chord Mojo. I am very intrigued as to how this will sound on balanced out.

THE DAP QUEST
for the noise purpose....
having a great day, to conduct DAP quest for the black background....
with my trusted Solaris Abnormal or SLitz, and my SD Card. I was ready to quest the following :
1) Cayin N5iis.
Main reason to start the quest, was reading Twister review and see this DAP. Curious about it, start to DM the seller to demo.
Noise is noticeable, but better black background, compare to X5iii without stacking.
2) AK70SR
Noise in 2.5 balanced...
3) AK100 & AK100Mod
NOISE..... 3.5SE...
the Mod version, yes still noise, but the mod really make the seperation really damn Good....
4) Lotto LPGT series
This is really the winner of my quest... with 4.4mm very neglectable Noise....
5) QP1R
3.5 SE still noticable. but consider neglectable..
6) AK120
Noise in 3.5SE
Bonus Quest :
1) Eros ii+ 4
Was good, but suddenly forgetable because trying the big bro
2) Janus Basso
Janus Basso cable is the side quest, really opening for my ear. Low and Mid segment really details... this is the reason why solaris DD were mean to be, IMO.
I even compare NOTE8 with janus cable vs QP1R with S.litz (3.5SE). and my ear goes to Janus pairing with Note8 (Noise and SQ).
Pairing Qp1r with janus, the noise become noticeable....
end of the quest, I reward myself : Cayin N5iis...
based on my budget and needs....
the take home note, SLitz 3.5SE from Solaris stock cable is a very good cable, comparable to Eros ii...

I have the N5IIs and the DX200/8 as my two "go to" sources for the Solaris - N5IIs is a very underrated DAP in the mid-range.

There is hiss on the se100 out of balanced. SE ended there is hiss but not very noticible. When I play music it doesn't bother me and I don't really pick it up.
For cable pairing, I'm really enjoying the thor silver ii 8wire with them. I am using a 2pin to mmcx adapter from ebay and idk if I'm losing sound quality or not so I really want to get it reterminated.

Well your N8 will be something and someday I wish to try... but until now, I am enjoying my N5iis, although need to get used to the UI....Cayin are very nice.
DX208 is my go to, but waiting for DX220, and for me is to long to wait and hear noise with my current gear....
Well using Note8 is good, but battery life drain to fast, I also use this as a phone and messenger, so u can imagine that I need to be always near electricity socket / port.... hehehe
Realizing that wanting to increase SNR by balanced for more dynamic, also increase the chance that Noise also too...
I try to peace my heart that using SE is not bad. And I can tell u (again), Solaris stock Cable Slitz SE is Damn Good... which I am back to use it again..
Regarding the 2 pin to mmcx Adapter, when I Demo Janus or Eros, I also ask the seller, will adapter effect SQ, he said probably, but since it too short, it will not be noticable, except the fitting issued, for me I dont have a problem..

How's the battery in the Cayin? Also what does it sound like?
Battery is around the 8 to 10 hr mark, and the sound is a sort of analog neutral. Decent weight to the bass, and a nice amount of power from the amp section (not necessarily in sheer wattage, but it doors exert good control over the Solaris DD and other IEMs and headphones I use it with - always liked Cayin amps).
