Campfire - Solaris

I'm actually considering getting the DUNU Hulk instead as I like the ability to switch out the terminations. I'm willing to stretch my budget for that feature. That or the PW Audio Loki wire that was suggested as I can get it easily here. Problem is I can't try them out first before buying. I've tried using a silver cable with the Solaris once and didn't like the sound. I found it too harsh for my liking. But I understand the Loki, despite being a silver cable, might be different? Anybody who tried both and has a strong preference for one over the other?
hehehe.. IMO, yes, you should tried it first... even I had some access to tried branded boutique cable, still I order and create or customed mine.

I like DUNU Hulk, they use good material...
If I dont have access, I asked some one to make.

I found the same using the pure silver cable from Campfire but the Loki is a silver copper alloy, 70% silver / 30% copper from what I understand. Really a good combination for the Solaris. The 8 wire puts more of an emphasis on the sub bass and enhanced the technicalities and details of the upper frequencies. I hear the 4 wire is supposed to put more of an emphasis on the upper frequencies compared to the 8 wires sub bass emphasis but it is very marginal.

Oh, I see. Thanks, @Tristy! Will look more into the Loki. I can only afford to shell out for the 4-wire though.

Let us know how it pairs with your Solaris when you do try them. :)

Will do... the 175 is a hybrid cable of silver with 1% gold and high purity copper... price if you’re interested is about $120 for custom made with choice of connectors...

So it’s great value too as a lot of cable sellers/makers would charge anything upwards of $500 for a comparable cable...

If you want to order you can either contact Hakuzen direct (he arranges bulk orders so we can get discounts) or you can contact the maker direct and specify what you want...

If you go to this thread mate there is a lot of information and breakdowns of how a cables design in terms of core numbers material etc all influence the sound we hear .., it’s well worth a read and also worth following the other links within it...

I'm familiar with Hakuzen's work. I was quite active in that thread some time ago. But I don't see "a lot of information and breakdowns of how a cables design in terms of core numbers material etc all influence the sound we hear." Can you be more specific?

No.... ask the guy who described them in this thread. Unfortunately I don’t have the capacity to try them all so I took his in-depth impression as gospel. Plus it looks sexy AF

Haha, famous last words. Thanks for sharing the link.

Here’s the link to the cores discussion mate but you’ll need to start looking at his other links for the other information and measurements.
