The 4.4mm version of the Solaris cable that Campfire sells is made explicitly for Sony products so I'm thinking it might be optimized in some way. That said I just watched a review that described the ZX300 as being very hissy (with the Atlas of all things, which isn't as sensitive as Solaris) so now I'm wondering if it's a good pairing.
Dude, you should check out the Shanling M5s - pairs really well with the Solaris and no hiss that I can hear. Sounds like it’s right in your price range too!

I've looked into that. It seems decent but I read a couple times that it's lacking in EQ functionality-- which is something of a priority for me with the next DAP I buy. I love the bass on the Solaris like 95% of the the time, but as a former Atlas owner there will be times when I want to EQ the bass up just to give myself a big kick in the pants. I'm probably going to wait until the Fiio M11 comes out to demo it...if I can resist taking the plunge on the Hiby R6 Pro when it becomes available.

The EQ is getting a total overhaul though (they’re apparently working with a company that specialises in EQ) and it will be arriving in a new firmware update. Hopefully it’ll be coming sooner rather than later!

No doubt. That said one thing I'm appreciating more and more about the Solaris as the days pass is how balanced and cohesive it is. Nothing stands out yet at the same time everything stands out. I've never tangibly perceived such a sense of unity from portable music before-- I can focus on each level and be totally wowed but at the same time sit back and appreciate how seamlessly it all blends together. If I were to chime in on the burn-in factor at this point I would say that as the hours wear on with this unit the sound becomes more and more cohesive. When I first tried it there was a vague sense of each of the different layers working to carve out their respective spaces but as the time wears all on of that dissolves into a serenely engaging unity. It doesn't matter what I'm listening to-- I can engage with each of the different layers if I choose but it's also easy to sit back and embraces the whole of the sound and not be distracted by any particular layer of it. Whether it's due to actual burn in or psychological burn-in who's to say but I think it stands as a testament to the quality of the tuning on this thing (for those who prefer a more balanced signature).
When? An iBasso DX220 is coming out in April. How does the DX200 stack against the WM1A? Are Sony the only ones who have a feature that is supposed to make lower res music sound better?

the hint that given was during Sony anniversary, CMIIW.
IMO, WM1A is warm, usually quite forgiving in low res music, but if the recoding was bad, than still bad...
if I read your comment, ur main source is Apple Music right?? just connect via LDAC to WM1A, but if you do only this, with minimum usage of flac etc, ZX300 will do the job, IMO...
Compare to DX200 (amp1), I am not sure, never compare side by side for that Two, just leave it here on the floor...
what I know, DX200 is neutral (tends a bit Warm), black background and separation is the plus, with a lot to work out in UI...
it will be more rewarding for you, if you can set ur goal.. example better Bass detail, Black Background, separation etc.
IMHO, high end DAP tend to chase these background and Separation, even HW Modding or DYI, is getting better separation.... alrd warn you, is a money burning path, and requires an upgrade in everything, but the value of money will not be inline with the upgrade u get.... (hahaha been there, and i think i am done, hopefully)
There is (almost) no hiss with the Solaris. If you listen really hard with the music paused, you can tell there is some background noise. I love the 1A because of its extra long ~30 hour battery life and the EQ UI is easy to use.

By the way, I'm listening out of a Magni (3) currently and at a loud listening volume I'm not sure I hear hiss when nothing is playing. I was expecting a lot of it if even daps produce hiss with these. Sound quality is a different story. Sure warms it up...
I found it...it was this one, the Arca Dignis. Now I just need to figure out how to get it to the US without paying $25 shipping...
Also, has anyone found tips that create a seal good enough to significantly isolate these things? I don't really want to force my music on the guy next to me on the train...
