I’m using the Andromeda with Ibasso’s DX200, zero hiss and a great synergy. Vega sounds great also with the DX200. Having both of these is a fantastic combination, I can sit in front of the stage with the Vega or in the middle of the studio with the a Andromeda. Happy daysIIRC Sony DAPs have around 1 ohm I believe but my biggest gripe is the hiss where it’s only with the iPod Touch 6th gen (1.7 ohms) that Andromeda is dead silent. Best of all, there’s no need for a impedance cable that can affect the dynamics of Andromeda

Depends what you are looking for. Andros are amazing beautiful top end, detailed, and overall feel very well balanced on all frequencies. If you want a more accurate detailed audiophile tuning then perhaps andromeda.
I never understood what a dark headphone was until i tried the vega. Now i know. Bass is big and bold, music sounds like youre at a live show front center. Overall good detail. A more fun headphone with powerful bass. Not as accurate as andromeda but doesnt mean they arent awesome to listen too. To me it sounds like a V shaped headphone.
I own both. They compliment each other. I prefer the andromedas because they bring out the emotion in melodies. Considering i listen to a lot of trance, the bass in the vegas for me at least can be a little too much; I am more of a melody mid guy. Sometimes it brings me to tears how good the andromedas are. I use ref 8 with wm1a.
The Andromeda is already quite dark without the reference 8 cable if you listen to sources with 0 ohms.

Interesting, does anyone have any experience on this? how do this affect the sound quality as compared to using normal tips?
I just found out about custom art silicone tips as well, If the sound is not affected in a bad way I might get 1 of these..

Don't expect a drastic change. The closest would be the stock foam tip.Interesting, does anyone have any experience on this? how do this affect the sound quality as compared to using normal tips?

I can reply to this. I went through the process a few weeks ago. Received my custom ear tips back from Campfire 2 weeks ago; took about 1.5 weeks from when Campfire received the impressions to when they sent it back. Total cost for Campfire was $150 + $20 shipping.
Initial impressions (no pun intended) was disappointment because the sound became thinner than what I was used to on the Andromedas and isolation was less. After listening to it some more, I realized it was only thinner and less isolating relative to what I was using on the Andromedas before which were Comply tips. I still need more time to evaluate the tips but I'm starting to like them.

I just picked up some Andromedas and really love them. I'm looking to upgrade to a 4.4 cable soon. Any suggestions? I read reviews of the CFA Ref8, is there another cable that presents a similar sound signature?

If you want the best sound get the SXC 8. It's a bug improvement over the Ref8. The downside is the cable is much thicker.

Is it available for purchase? I can't find it on the website.
The new silver cable (Atlas) is also great.
Still testing against other ALO cables.

Is it less microphonic than Ref 8? I like Ref 8 but it is so microphonic and stiff. Maybe I'll try the SXC.
