Very mature and textured. No comparison to both the 215s or 535s.

Try them once and you can easily locate where all the extra money went. Do note the Andro's got fit issues, you need the right tips to make it sound the way you want. I am a bass head and to me all those reviews that say Andros lack bass makes no sense now. They offer equal bass as my Z5 but in a more matured way.

Much better mids and sound stage on the se535 compared to 215. The andromedas are really source dependent. Playing them at <1ohm, theres tons of bass, nearly matches the SE846 and maintains sparkly highs which the 846s lack. I love them at 2.5ohms with the IEMatch.

Yes, there are two factors related to the Andro bass:

1) Output impedance. As @TwiceTzuyu indicated, an output impedance below 1 will boost the bass and make the signature more bassy overall (OI over 2 will emphasize the treble, and 1-2 is generally considered the sweet spot for source OI for these picky IEMs).

2) My impression is that many of the comparisons that mention Andros having less bass are in comparison to the CA flagship DD IEMs. DD and BA provide different bass experiences, with DD providing an oomph and impact that BA does not (which is much of the DD appeal to many, and why DD drivers are used for the bass frequencies in hybrid designs).

How does the bass on the Andromeda compare to the Shure SE535 and/or Shure 215?

Literally depends on the fit. I tried several of the suggestions in this thread and found the medium CP100 spinfits worked perfectly. Still awaiting the arrival of the spiral dot tips to test out.

I'm not sure what you are pairing them with but the Andromeda is a little too easy to drive. Works well with the LG V30, iPhone 6s Plus, Fiio X7 Mk2, and a Desktop DAC Amp like the Gustard A20H. Whoever said the Andromeda lacks bass may have been a tad impatient. It took about 3 weeks for me to find the right tips and fit.

As for the comparison the 215 nor the 535 are on the Andromeda's level. I have had a number of Shure IEM's and the 535 was a bit sibilant at times. It's just hard to go back to listening to an SE215 after spending time with the SE846's then the Andromeda.

Agreed I think the andromedas has quite a bit of bass. I listen to lots of trance and electronic. I really like the shure 535 for the mids and durability but andromeda are hard to compete with. Theyre amazing. I use sony wm1a

iPod Touch 6th Gen hits that output impedance sweet spot for the Andros: between 1-2 ohms (looks like gen 6= 1.74 from a quick search).

I use Apple Music as my main library so I need iPod Touch. Also, Andromeda sounds lifeless, zero bass with iPhone whereas it sounds magical with iPod Touch. Perfect harmony from subbass to upper treble. On the other hand, it sounds veiled with subdued upper mids and treble with Chord Mojo. The best of all: since iPod Touch has no LTE and can practically be configured as pure DAP with WiFi streaming (i.e. no phone background apps like SMS, no background apps in general, there is absolutely ZERO background hiss which allows for that Shure KSE1500 / Jomo Flamenco / U18Tzar/ Tia Fourte level of clarity and microdetail retrieval. You guys should try the iPod Touch il 6th gen with no widgets, no background apps, uninstall all of the other apps not considered as a music/photo/video app, no Siri, and reduced motion for easier UI rendering and your jaws will drop on how incredible Andromeda sounds with it!

Really? Is it better than any DAP you have tried?

In terms of hiss noise performance with Andromeda then yes. I have not heard any hiss whatsoever with iPod Touch 6th gen even on the quietest room. My Chord Mojo and the WM1Z that I demoed had audible hiss on quiet passages with Mojo being borderline unacceptable. But in terms of SQ with other DAPs, your ears decide that. My ears tell me that an optimized for music playback iPod Touch doesn’t bottleneck Andromeda on any frequency, imaging and soundstage, micro and macro retrieval. No sound congestion with complex passages that I detect to my ears. As always, YMMV and your ears might not like the sound as you prefer an even warmer sound for example. All I can say is that it doesn’t sound harsh, fatiguing nor flat, not warm with no dynamics. Just 100% neutral to my ears. As I write again, YMMV.

Indeed, That sounds like a combination worth giving a listen to.

i’m either gonna get the b stock orion or nova on the ALO warehouse deals site. planning to use either the 3.5 or 2.5 litz cable. sources are either iphone w dongle or iphone w fiio q1 mk2. i want the most bass I can get out of them. I know the dongle has the lowest output impedance (~.6) vs the fiio (1.2 unbal/<2 bal). what would y’all recommend? thanks!

Not sure how the Orions or Nova reacts to OI but i like the Andromedas at ~2ohms

I would like to know which source are you using which is 2ohms. I might consider getting it.
Not exactly 2ohms but i'm using an iFi IEMatch: 2.5ohms(High setting), 1ohm(Ultra). It'll def sound better at 2ohms because the Andros are too bassy at <1Ohm and almost perfect at 2.5ohms
