It's going to be fun. What are you going to use as sources?

I just use my cayin i5, haven't spent a lot of money on amps but what will pair the andromeda well with?

I am drooling with the pairing with the Black Label. First day with these two at work.

A few nice things:

1) No more hiss on this filthy laptop. Noise floor is totally flat now.

2) Unlike my desktop gear at home (that also doesn't hiss at all) the output impedance and signature of the BL seems to be just right for the Andromeda. Sound doesn't get too bright/harsh/sibilant/fatiguing as with my desktop, it's a warmer, softer balanced tone. That warmth is just the ideal and all midrange/treble clarity/resolution is preserved.

3) It has 6 gain adjustments. The most extreme (Eco power, Ultra Sensitivity) works well with the Andro. They really are sensitive IEMs.

4) The 3D circuit on the BL turned out not to be the useless gimmick I expected. The 3D is sometimes useless because often it sounds bad (sound gets brighter & grainier), however, there are tracks/albums where somehow it just works well... the stage gains width, height, depth... instruments that were centered in your head move a bit to the sides, outside your shoulders, etc, but without sounding artificial. In those cases it improves separation a lot and gives a nice feeling that reminds you of open headphones (think HD800 here, given the resolution and brightness).

5) Best of all, the XBass option on the BL also turned out to be interesting, but even more. It adds quantity to sub-bass without impacting quality. I dont know how they are doing it, but it's not the same as pumping the low freqs with EQ software, it sounds more natural.

BL+Andromeda with XBass on sometimes reminds me of a better SE846 - the same visceral thumping bass impact but with a lot more clarity and air.

Like with the 3D thing, sometimes XBass doesn't work out well as it makes the sound excessively heavy on the low freqs, tiring, even distracting of the lower mids. So this is will depend on album... in most cases it is not necessary, but if the mastering is a bit thin, it's nice to have the option.

I'm sure there are quite a few good options for the Andromeda, but this one has to be one of the best pairings for the money. IMHO it beats the hell out of a Mojo, in terms of features/flexibility. But it's somewhat big, so not really all that portable.

One of the workers from cayin tested the andromeda with the i5 and said the pairing was very good. He didn't mention any hissing so it must be good.

Beowulf. Glad you liked the BL and Andromeda pairing. I thought they were a phenomenal match and both really punch above their price points too. And the bass boost surprised me too, it was no gimmick and really was great to have for certain recordings

What will be a upgrade cable over the stock cable that comes with the andromeda?

Hey. One simple question -- is the Andromeda sibilant? I know it's subjective, but there always *some* consensus around sibilance... Or to rephrase -- does it make albums with hot or spiky, brittle treble sound thin and annoying, whereas, say, the Shure se535 or noble k10 don't?

I've not had any issues paired with the DX200. For me, it is perfection, I'd still like to get a custom though.

Nope, or at least I don't find it to be. It's rare to hear an earphone do treble so well without sounding sibilant too.

Not a single hint of sibilance even with spinfit tips and my 33 ohm impedance output galaxy s3 while listening to modern trance lol

I'm not sure if I'm sensitive to treble though, but my hearing goes up to 19khz.

Never encounter any sibilance since i got it.

Forgot to mention when I got the andro: Does anyone have any issues using it with their Samsung Galaxy S7 edge? My phone doesn't even recognise that it is plugged in. It doesn't really matter as I've my dx, but it would be nice to at least have the ability.
