I am deciding to get an amp for my DT990 600ohm. I don't think I want to get a tube amp therefore the two amps that came top of my lists are HA160 and Auditor.

I am wondering if anyone has compared the two, head to head?

Also what does each amp do to the overall tonity if I am going to be using DT990 and HD650.

Thanks.

Why the Auditor? Most people go for the Burson HA-160, Lehmann Black Cube, Violectric V181 & V200 or one of the Little Dot amps. Or why not something from RSA?

I personally did not care for the SPL Auditor at all. Too clinical, almost artificially so. The Burson was an easy choice when I compared them head to head. But a friend felt the opposite way so as always it is subjective.

I will say this though: the Auditor did best with 600ohm Beyers. For that use it was not bad. I still prefer the Burson but not by much. When you go down to low ohm headphones that's where the Auditor fell apart imho.

Have you considered tubes? For $1100, the WA2 would be outstanding with your DT990/600s and HD650s.

Thanks guys. I had a fair listen on the 3 Schiit with my DT990. They definitely improved the sound but I cannot say if it was dramatic. It definitely had a better control on the bass and more extension on the low and high as well. I found the Asgard only made the overall tone "thicker". Lyr is definitely the best out of the three. Haven't had a chance to audition with the SPL's and Bursons tho.
