Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II

For those of you who have the Ak120ii and other DAC's, what would your compare the AK120ii as a dac to?  What level or cost/model of standalone dac do you think it competes with?  All I can directly compare it to is my no longer with me Fiio E17, and I can say it beats the pants off of that...

Thanks..

I've never heard a portable player match a decent desktop dac. Imo the best a portable player can do is compete with low end desktop, like ~$500 dac's, and even then I'd still give the overall SQ win to a good desktop dac. As soon as you hit $1000 desktop dac's there are so many options that will completely outclass any portable device.

Do you guys have any ideas for a modular cable system? Was wondering of how I can connect my 400i or AD to the AK100ii balanced plug because all my cables are single ended. I can buy or probably make them if necessary but I was wondering if anyone knows of a modular type system of sorts.

I have parts on order to build a collection of cables:

2.5mm trrs to two 3 pin XLR for feeding the Liquild carbon amp when it arrives
2.5mm trrs to 4pin XLR female so I can try my T1's on the Ak120ii once I reterminate the T1's
4 pin male XLR to reterminate my T1's
4 pin XLR female to 1/4" TRS SE so I can still listen to my T1's on my Crack until my Liquid Carbon arrives.

I think that's it...

Whiplash Modular Cable system, I reviewed it here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/757815/review-of-whiplash-audio-twag-v3-litz-and-modular-cable-system-a-true-forward-thinking-in-custom-cable-design-with-a-lot-of-close-up-pics

Especially check it out how well it works with AK120ii in pictures here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/757815/review-of-whiplash-audio-twag-v3-litz-and-modular-cable-system-a-true-forward-thinking-in-custom-cable-design-with-a-lot-of-close-up-pics#post_11503600

Nice the Liquid Carbon is brilliant. I love how small the size is in real life too.

It's insane, I'm using this cable with all of my headphones (that utilize removable cable) and switching between 3.5mm TRS and 2.5mm TRRS in seconds.  The cable itself is Pure Silver, and you just get different headphone extension pieces with different connectors.

Hey guys, probably this has been asked before. I wonder how some of you get the AK100ii leather case (non-crocs pattern) with international shipping?

I don't really know any cases apart from the one that is included in the package. If anyone else ave links to interesting AK100ii cases, please post them here :)

I've always gotten balanced 4-pin XLR cables (OEM or 3-rd party) for full-size headphones and then I have adapters from there to 2.5mm TRRS, 3.5mmTRRS and dual 3.5mm Sony/Pono. IEMs are a lot more complicated - for that I have Moon Audio Silver Dragon cables in 2-pin & MMCX to 3.5mm TRRS (it's more solid than the 2.5mm and there are good female jacks available) plus adapter cables from 3.5mm TRRS female to 2.5mm TRRS male and Sony/Pono.
