Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II

Hi all,

Is there an aftermarket case available for the AK100ii where there is an opening for the micro SD card port? I'm surprised there's no opening for this in the supplied case.

Van nuys from japan makes some nice cases but they're mostly pouch type. Cases for these are really scarce. I'm also hunting for a similar case to use the micro-sd to SD adapter for larger cards.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll post here if I find anything other than the Van nuys and those croc cases.

My updated belt holster I made with nylon strapping and some elastic and a clip, about $15 in material. Works great I made sure the screen was covered for at work but I can still get to all the buttons on the side and volume button. I tried cell phone holsters they just stick out to far I like low profile cases and this sits very tight to my waste. I am waiting for carbon fiber material and going to try to make another holster lined with sued.

Are you powering IEMS or power hungry cans? If IEMS I'd say for simplicity's sake Ak100ii... Carrying around a brick gets tiring real fast. I loved the sound of the ak100ii... Great player, never heard the DX90 so I can't help there. Are you sure you even need the ifi?

Hi all is there any substantial differences in sound sig between ak100ii and ak120ii? I'm currently using ak120 with rsa intruder for my jh13 and he560. Was wondering if I Shld go for the ak120ii in the near future OR sell my ak120 and get the ak100ii now

Not too much difference in sound signature, a little bit more smooth, airy and sound stage and power output due to separate chip and amplifier for each channel and lower output impedance (1 ohm) in balanced output to match some IEM like SE846.

Go for 120II if you want more internal storage 128GB versus 64GB (if most of your files are HI-RES/ DSD) you don't need to spend money for a micro SD card as you have sufficient space in the internal storage. You prefer to use more power balanced output for a better SQ. If your music files will be loaded with lots of DSD files, go for AK240 which has the DSD decoded natively capability.

I planning to use my HD 650 and eventually th900 or lcd 3 or lcd x. Yea I'm not sure if I need ifi dsd with the dx90. Currently I plus hd 650 into my note 3. Sounds pretty good to my ears but sometimes to low on vocal jazz. Therefore I thought ifi micro dsd with dx 90 would be a good option. Plus I want more soundstage. But then again I thought of ak100II. I think it is powerful enough by itself to drive hungry cans. However I'm not sure which option is sonically superior. I just need transportability within the house.

Th900 are easy to drive from my understanding. I will have mine on Tuesday, I'll play from my note 4 and AK240. Let you know how it sounds. To me ak100ii was almost identical in sound to the 240, minus some extra power.

Hi. I used to own DX90 and X5 and the new AK players sound better in every aspects. Not to mention the exceptionally easy to navigate UI much more worth it in the long run.

If you own HD650, TH900 and Audeze lines you would definitely go for 120ii no doubt. Wait till you hear HD650 with balance out AK120II.

I posted impressions on those cans back a while ago and it's just keeps getting better.

Cheers.

The UI on the AK players are the best and easiest to use, the only thing I like better is my Samsung Alpha phone.

Then you'll find Sony's ZX1 and ZX2 right up your alley :p

After a couple of days, I'm really happy with the AK100ii, and the UI really is a dream compared to the DX-90. It feels strange that it took this long for DAPs to match or exceed the old iPod Classic UI.
