OK, I have read from page 100 until here. As more people are reporting differences between Carbon 1.2 and Silver/Grey 1.1, I guess that is true. This guy states that B&W had to make adjustments to the tuning to make it sound the same as older versions because of that diamond cut edge affecting air flow (!?) Maybe they messed the adjustment...

From the descriptions of the differences between Space Grey (1.1) and Carbon (1.2) that I read here, I guess I'd like the older version more because I like punch in the mid bass and weighty full-bodied vocals, and generally have problems with prominent high-mids... so the 1.1 tuning would be right my alley. Except for the spike in the 10K highs that you guys are talking about. But that is both with the Carbons and the Space-Greys right?
All I know is that the Space Grey sound, from your description, seems to be exactly what I enjoyed the two days when I had the Silvers. Seems the Carbons are more like M3 which I tried also for two days and I didn't like at all. I like meat to the vocals (low mids) and to my ear the M3s are empty there. Just bloated sub-bass and tizzy hot vocals and highs. Not my cup of tea. I like warmth.

I didn't have the carbon ones but I've got the opportunity to get Space Grey and Silver versions of PX7. Both on same firmware but Space Grey somehow sounds more clean and open whereas the sound of Silver ones was some kind of muffled. Did someone encounter something similar?

Anybody having this issue with the original PX7s?
I plug either a USB-C or audio cable into them to listen wired for lossless music and switch them on. I then get the voice prompt to tell me to connect to a bluetooth source. It's like I have two systems running at the same time. If I don't connect to a bluetooth source I get the voice saying 'ready to connect' and it doesn't stop, bluetooth light flashes. Tried resetting via the app but no luck, still happens. I thought the cable should override the bluetooth and shut bluetooth functionality off. Any advice or are they broken?
Cheers
Shaun

Does this exaggerated mid bass subdue after burn in or is it stuck like this?

Hey, I returned the XM4 and I have the Space Grey PX7 for a few days. I'm very happy with them, different league, excellent build, no creaks and clicks in the headband or hinges, like the Sonys. I don't find them that heavy or clampy either. I love the sound, much more natural than the Sonys, better resolution, tonality, imaging, stage. And, they have oomph! I love dat bass... They are less forgiving with bright mastered music, but then I use Wavelet and dial down the highs and it's ok.

After connecting the cable, move the power switch towards the Bluetooth symbol two times in quick succession. They will disconnect from Bluetooth. They supposed to do this automatically when connecting the cable but they don't...

So after I managed to buy a new sealed P7 Wireless, I buyed the PX7 back instead. The P7 Wireless has a new owner. The P7 Wireless do hurt a lot and I can't wear them for longer than an hour.

When comparing both headphones I think the PX7 sounds a little bit better.

I still have both. And the PX.
If I could only pick one, it would be the PX7, mainly due to comfort and the overall features. It also has a far quieter noise floor than the P7W.
Having said that, I still reach for the P7W when feeling like listening to older rock recordings, psychedelic rock or anything with lots of noisy guitars.
Oasis, Zeppelin, Velvet Underground etc is much more enjoyable on the P7W.

I do have a question for you all: do you use your PX7’s outside? Even when it’s freezing? Should I worry about anything while using them?

I use my PX7 for outside walks. That's what I bought them for. And I was just going to ask this same question to B&W support, but the website suggested the answer:
They are not to be used below 0° Celsius, mainly because it can damage the battery, but other components too.
I didn't think of this when I sold my wired M2, and now I wish I didn't, I would have sacrificed them in freezing cold. :p
The most important thing, even if your take your battery-powered headphones or any device outside in the cold, is to NEVER attempt to charge them when they are cold, wait until they naturally return to room temperature before charging. Charging a very cold battery can damage it permanently.
Also turn it off, before you move from outside to indoors, because condensation can form and affect the circuitry.

I"ll write more later

Thanks for your reply! That’s what I already thought..

I know this is mega old. But I wanted to pop in and mention that a lot of the comments in here helped me purchase my set of Px7s. WHile I LOVED them... key word... LOVED. They were not durable enough for simple daily use. The sound rendition of them is near identical to most of their bookshelf speakers that I have listened to. But the fact that the A arms that swivels the cups crack and break was a killer for me. Luckily the repaired them, but to be down a few weeks at a time was a bummer. I am going to try the carbon as I assume it HAS to be more durable....

What A-arm do you refer to? This is the space grey version - no A-arm. Also from the B&W website "The woven carbon fibre composite arms of the PX7..." so I don't think it'd cack easily
