The Xone XD : 53 are equal to the Denon DN-HP1000's they're the same headphone with a different manufacturer tag. On DJ forums I have read numerous complains about cracks in the RP-DH's headband after a few years. You should also consider the Stanton DJ pro 2000 (amazing bang for buck) and on the other side of the spectrum the Pioneer HDJ2000 for people with to much money, but they are extremely durable and should sound great.

Hmm..I would've guessed the AT ATH-PRO700 SV would be the same driver/different tag combo..

I bought a used pair if Triports and thought they were worth the $80 I paid; they seem to do a decent job un-amped with compressed phone/ipod music.

Then I A/B'd them with a portable amp and lossless music with real headphones (HD600) and I shouldn't have because these Triports really suck!

They are comfortable, but flimsy. They sound best out of my Nokia 5800 for some reason.

The Triports have the dubious honor of being the worst cans Bose sells. They're not uncomfortable, but putting your ears into a plastic funnel gives you the sound of a plastic funnel. To my ears, the Triports sound squawky and horn-like. I always find it hilarious that the Bose demo features a narrator telling you what to think, and that the monologue suggests - in true hypnotist fashion - that you're actually hearing something decent. Bose likes to pretend it's selling you something audiophilic, so while the presentation is crap, the voice in the demo says, "Notice the timbre in the vocals," or some such other nonsense. It's like being handed a pair of cruel shoes, complete with razor blades in the heel, and being told to notice "how comfortable" they are.

People who love their Bose(s) are victims of a Jedi mind trick.

I would have thought the noise-canceling ones would have been, since they cost so much more than the Triports?

I agree with the Triports being pretty bad, but the "On Ear" phones are just as bad. The Triports sound like you are listening to music through a funnel and the "On Ear" phones are all boomy bass and nothing else.

I would have to agree with the idea that there are better choices than Bose for DJ'ing - not because of subpar sound quality, but because of very poor durability (if the swivel joints on a Sony MDR-V700DJ cracking after a few months of use is bad enough, the Bose headband snapping in half after just one or two weeks of light DJ use is much, much worse). In addition, neither of the earpieces of the Bose Around-Ear headphones swivel far enough out of the way to facilitate one-eared monitoring (if one ever needs this function). The earpieces of the On-Ears do swivel, but the swivel had been designed not so much for one-eared DJ use as it had been for folding the headphones flat so one could pack them in a briefcase.

Anyway, a quick search should have given the OP a clear sign of what we think of BOSE.

Bose for Dj'ing??? I don't think so. Although to be honest, I've never DJ'ed in my life, yet i still love my Sennheiser HD25-1's and Ultrasone DJ 1's. the thing a i love about tyhe HD25-1's, is that evey part is modualr, and that 'every' part can be repalced. I see no other headphones that offer that kind of flexibility. i really don't know if there is another pair of headphones on the market like the HD25 range. I could be worng!

I wasn't recommending Bose in any way, shape or form :p..I only said to buy bose if you want to baby your headphones instead of your crowd while you're DJing (ie:sarcasm)

I think there are 2 in the HD-25 series..there's the HD-25-1 MKII and the HD-25 SP..which from what I read are cheaper versions..

Oh yes, if you want to avoid a mild catastrophe, then go out and buy Pioneer HDJ2000 DJ-Headphones ... and the force will be with you!
