Blon in ear monitors impressions thread

Hi guys, I just received my Blon... but.. I ordered brown, correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks pretty silver-like to me. I received a softish velvety beige-grey bag with BLON 2014 written, 3 extra pairs of useless grey eartips, and one small spinfit-like pair that was initially on them, and one mid size pair (fits best for me), but still everything fits terrible..( Didn't get any black tips, does that mean I got a newer version? The cable's definitely not great, but I guess it's ok, waiting for new ones. They sound good, but not nearly as good as I was expecting :frowning2: Will burn in help? When I look at the metal vent (that's what it's called, right?) I can see 2 dots of soldering(?) (2 small dots that look like copper), is that normal?

Get tips that fit before judging the sound. Also what are you using as a source? If you're just using your mobile phone it probably won't be that great. They do like a bit of power. But get tips that fit.

Welcome to the Blon 03 club. Lousy tips, basic cable. My second pair had that little bag and 2014 written. You have to work to get the best sound. I replaced the cable, fitted a home made spacer and added JVC Spiral Dots and reckon they are as good as any IEMs I've had. Yep they do improve with burn in.
Could you check the vents by taking of the tips? Do you have these dots too?

I'm using Zishan Z3 modded, an Chinese mp3 player, but it's pretty powerful, works great with Beyerdynamic Dt770, which are pretty power hungry too

Yes they do, guess that keeps the screen in place

Anyone willing to share their EQ for these Blon Bl-03?
Thanks

I don’t think they need EQ. Is there something specific that you don’t like? Maybe you have an ear canal resonance in a very specific frequency?

**** testing my eyesight to the full. There are some copper colour dots, although on mine seems both sides of the mesh. You have to earn your stripes with the Blon 03. It's worth it though.

I added spacer, really helped with fit, which in turn really did make them sound better! Now the Spinfit-like middle fits pretty good, a Large from Philips SHE3855 fits best, but after 30 min of listening they start to hurt (too big), and last foam - most comfortable, but sound kinda weird.. I ordered 2 pairs of medium Spinfit cp100, hope they'll work better. Now I just have to decide between the 3 I have now

Anyine looking for a deadly upgrade should check out the Ztella DAC.

Got mine today and wow! Big upgrade in every possible way. Which makes me think almost any sort of DAC/AMP would be a decent upgrade at the very least.

how does MQA sound on this?

Depending on the quality of the track you are playing, probably good. After all, MQA is a pretty good mild compression system focused on 24 bit 88 khz.

Really any good sounding source material should sound just fine on these as long as you like a relatively benign sound.

If you have ever owned Sennheisers, most older Sonys, Etymotic, or Phonak you kind of know what to expect.

Received my BLON 03 day before yesterday which I had ordered on 11.11. I have a specific requirement as I am using this on my work laptop.
1. Replacement cable that can be worn either around the ear or as hanging down.
2. Need a mic (very hard to find a good cable with mic) as I have lot of Skype/Zoom meeting at work.

Can anyone suggest a good one from AE with link please?

My impression: Coming from TinAudio T2, I love the BLON more as T2 though natural and balanced was dull and non exciting for daily casual listening. BLON is fun sounding and am still welcoming the elevated mid bass after 5-6 months of using T2. I am listening mostly to Gospel Jazz Insturmental, Pop, and Worship songs and lot of podcasts. Fitting is not too much of a problem for me but not that great either.

I just noticed that if I cover the tips with my fingers, one ear leaks more sound :triportsad: And I kind of feel like that ear has less isolation. Does anyone else have such a problem?
