T90 are quite easy to drive actually. I have three different amplifiers and all of them drive my T90 nicely. I am not sure about burning-in headphones. I believe it actually means in practice getting used to the sound of a headphone. Do you have any other headphones at hand?

At this time AKG K1000, K701,DT 880, the headstage of T90 is really good comparative with my K1000, is simple to drive the sound is good with many amps, incredibile with Jazz.
I prefer T90 to T1 1st. series with my 307A. :o

I have a crack amp and I had both the 990dt and the t1 first gen at the time. I prefered the 990s (250ohm). They had a similar sound, the 990s were a bit slower and a bit thinner mids, but the t1s just impaired no weight to the sound. They were very refined but almost too effortless and whispy I guess. This was even with choral stuff and some symphonic.

Those cans are  (my 990s) 10 years old and the cable broke so Im using it as an excuse to look at new cans. I have heard the t90s are light on bass, and in some Ive heard they have too much bass. Im hoping for the ladder lol! Probably dudes using all silver and ss portable amps heheh. If I can find em on sale or used I will give em a shot. That is if I dont get a he400 or he 500 first heheh.

Hi all,

I've been using T90 with GeekOut 1000 v1. While it's generally wonderful beyond anything I've ever heard before (I'm quite new to high-end headphones. I've previously owned only IEMs like UE Triple.fi10 and Sennheiser IE80 - the difference in sound quality between these and the T90 is significantly huge for me.), on some albums the treble sounds a bit harsh. I've read the posts in this thread and understand that this has more to do with the quality of those particular recordings than T90.

What would be the logical upgrade from GO1000 if I'm looking for a warmer sound (a bit better bass wouldn't hurt)? I'm only looking for a portable DAC/AMP. Is Chord Mojo a good choice?

I've read that Chord used Audioquest Nighthawk in developing of Mojo which leads me to believe that the voicing of the Mojo amp is probably on the bright side (knowing that the Nighthawk is a pretty "dull" and bassy headphone.)

Well, any portable with a bass boost might help, or you could try a little EQ. You will get much better finer control with EQ then you will with swapping amps.

Do T90 really need bass boost? I am not sure.

Surja wants a warmer sound. The easiest way to get that is with EQ. Do the T90 "need" bass boost? that is a decision each listener has to make. Is the bass lighter than on beats? yes. Is it more than a grado SR60? yes. Is it "right"? Who can say.
