beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.

When I first saw those I thought maybe I should rethink my T1 order, but if they're intended for portable use I'm less interested. I wonder if the styling indicates that the cut-out metal sides and mesh cups are going to be the new Beyer look, or if it's simply intended to make it look like the T1? Either way, I'll be interested to hear more. It's good to see Beyer going for the high end more, since I'm a fan of theirs and I'm getting into higher end products.

Leather pads huh?

Looks like its a sealed T1 to me.

I think you're right. I think it's a closed can. And with the miniplug, designed for portable use. T5 is probably destined to compete with the Bowers & Wilkins P5.

According to comment on another thread, it is for portable usage (hence the 1/8") and it is 32 ohms.

I'am not sure if the T50p is doing fine, that is why they must have quickly introduced the T5.

I feel they will discontinue the T50p, I don't blame them,I feel if the T5 sound anything close to the T1's then their price is justifiable.

I would be interested in a pair.

Well, if it is closed, as it appears, I might just have to get one...

A closed headphone with a very poweful magnet and easily drivable. Looks like they will be able to move serious air..

I guess the P in the name indicates that it is meant for portable listening but it looks a bit bulky

T50p was also in the China show where they launch T5p. There is a big price difference between T5p and T50p, so they are aiming at different market.

I admit that I am intrigued by the promise of a closed T1, but we'll have to see how it's sound stacks up to the T1 before making any real decisions. If it has the same quality in a closed design, I'll certainly go for it. Sadly, my budget at the moment doesn't support buying both a T1 and T5.
