Good call. Anything out there that's better? (And preferably doesn't cost more than another set of cans?
)

I've never heard the HD800, so I can't comment on that. Tyll seems to be quite consistent in loving headphones that are a bit dark for my taste (HD600/650, Momentum, M-80 etc.) but also liked the K550 -- which is more my taste (as is the T5p). I would not discredit his opinion on that account, I think a lot simply comes down to different preferences. Can't recall him calling a headphone bad due to not matching his sonic preferences...
Unrelated to that: I recently took the T5p with me on vacation but forgot the camera/USB adapter to connect my Leckerton to the iPad. Out of necessity I used connected them directly and was pleasantly surprised that they were quite usable in that configuration... Nice![]()
T5p may be 32ohm & hence supposedly suitable for portable devices. But I tested this with my iPhone and it sounds unpleasantly bright. Beyer Tesla Series needs amplification to sound at its best. The great thing is you don't need exotic, super expensive gear for it to sing. Also, maybe Apple needs to upgrade their DAC/amp in their iPhone. I heard Samsung Galaxy sounds much better with high end headphones.
I used to think Tyll knew a great deal but of late I have been finding myself not agreeing with a great many of his reviews. I think it pays to take a broad range of views and especially I find that has been most helpful to me is to look outside this forum and the community into HiFi magazines and forums that deal with not just only headphones for information as well.
The only way I could see Tyll's opinions of these being valid is if he had a bad pair. If he had a good pair then I think that speaks more of his hearing preferences and lack of being able to be objective than it does any shortcomings these may have and as far as I can see they seem to have precious few to me and I have had a few higher end cans now.
Honestly, I had decided to skip the T1 based on some of the reviews I'd read until I heard the T5p. Now I can't imagine not at least auditioning it as one of my long-term keeper cans.
