They're at $149 right now.

You can use camelcamelcamel.com to set a target price and they will email you when it reaches that price. Pretty handy.

Yup, the reason for the price increase is that Amazon ran out of stock, and the other sellers had higher prices. They've since adjusted their prices and I just ordered a pair from one of the other sellers (fulfilled by Amazon) for $149. They should arrive at the office Monday!

I'm still tempted to go pick up a pair of DT770/80s right now from Guitar Center, just to compare. But I don't really want to fuss with making a return, especially since these are the most high-end headphones I've ever bought and I'm sure I'll be more than happy with either set.

... dude... DOOOOOO ETTTTTTTT lol, comparing headphones is fun and plus instead of making a return you can always sell them here. Help an upcoming head fi member and increase your trader feed back! Plus if you listen to the 770 pro 80 and the COP it gives you some credibility here, if anything when you get your COPS, go audition the 770 pro 80's against the COP just to gain the knowledge that comes from listening to both <3

If you are a Bass head listen to my CAREFULLY... OPEN Bass vs Closed Back Bass are RATHER DIFFERENT... BEWARE if you go open back with the dt 990s [because I totally want to] YOU MIGHT NEVER GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUt dude... the Dt 990 Pro 250 ohms man... you will LOVE and they are half the price of the Pro 900 for like well an overall better sound... plus you can avoid all the Creepy Pasta that LOOMS around the Pro 900s... the pro 900 appreciation thread is FULL of ppl getting messed up drivers or haiving problems with the cords... so seriously... get a Byer Can... no to mention Pro 900 users are very fond of the Pro 900 mods... last I checked Dt 990s DONT NEED NO MODS ;3

but don't take my word as I'm opposed to all Pro 900 recomendations... $300+ dollars along with being told "my brain has to adjust to the sound" makes me a hater... and one day I will try the pro 900's so I can hate them some more, and continue to recommend the Byers over the Ultrasones <3

ALso did I mention that the COP and the Dt 990 Pro 250 are about HALF THE Price of the Pro 900 :D... so get a Byer save your self some cash and some heart ache <3

thank you for your input but that still leaves me with the 990 vs COP :D i love bass and the COP supposedly has more bass but i mostly listen to electronic and dubstep which means the legendary highs of the 990 will make these 2 genres sound sweeet

Pshh highs in Dub Step... what dub step are you listening to. All of my Dub Step is DARK AND DIRTY, but yea EDM does like the nice highs. But the last question you need to ask is do you need isolation?

If you want to use Open Cans portable [which i do] you kinda of limited to libraries and other quiet places because OUTSIDE NOISE, does weaken the bass on an open can... so if you'r going to be using these on the go a lot I might try the CoP, but then again I've not heard the dt 990... so with a bass boosting amp the bass might be sufficent even with outside noise... still though the dt 880 sound better in pure silence than they do on a public bus e.e

to be honest, I will be mostly be using them in my room with UHA-4 on my PC but being able to listen to them outside would be a nice bonus but overall, sound quality is much more important to me

Anyone have experience ordering and returning headphones through Amazon?  I am thinking about just buying the COP in the short-term, given how cheap they are right now, and then returning them if I don't find the sound to my liking.  Also considered the DT-990, but I've decided portability does matter to me, and the ability to isolate in a noisy environment is something I don't want to compromise on.  My other option is to wait until the M-100 comes out for some head-to-head comparisons-- at the pre-order price, it's not really worth the money considering I could get both the COP and the 990 for almost the same $310 they're charging now on V-Moda's site.

It's a piece of cake.  I've done it a few times with various things, headphones included.  At least in the US...you just go on their site to your order history and pick the reason for the return, print out the shipping label and drop it off at UPS.  That simple.

I think it is because the headphone market is bigger in US than in UK.

Ever heard of the phrase 'rip off britain??'

Naa, joking, it's tax, VAT, customs, stringent (or crazy) government rules/regulations that would push the prices up. Did you not see the olympics where usain bolt bought up the issue of tax (he races here once, they steal half his yearly earnings)!!

The main problem this price difference has on headfi is that most people rate and talk about gear with an inextricable attention and awareness of price, which determines value and thus overall performance of gear. Something highly praised in the US may be because of it's 'bang for the buck' property. But over hear it's priced three times more, so, well, things change.
