Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Oct 29, 2012 at 1:54 PM Post #406 of 963
Just ordered a pair of these while I wait for my preorder M100s.  Hopefully these will satisfy my need for a nice sounding headphone that I can game with.  I've got a V-MODA speakeasy cable that I can use for voice, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to everyone for their impressions...stoked to get these since they are only 150 via Amazon.  Half the cost of the V-MODAS.  Wonder if the M100s are twice as good?

Nice deal. Look forward to your impressions.

Trying to justify to myself into buying Beyer COPs.
Would like some comparisons from COPs owners about how they feel about their COPS to their other headphones?
and what amplifiers you use with them.

Has anyone used the Schiit Valhalla with the COP?

I returned the COP a while ago due to the lack of treble sparkle.

Im confused about these.

What are they exactly?

How are they compared to the DT990

... Basically the Dt COP is a CLOSED low impedance Can with optinal Bass control it seems, and compared to the Dt 990 the bass is not as tight nor do the highs sparkle

Also people complain about the mids being recessed when that's kind of the nature of most BASS BOOSTING cans, so for me it's no an issue seeing as most BASS heavy music is well Highs and Bass, no to much mids. Although if it has vocals then you might be saddend xD

According to the Headfonia review, these headphones have recessed mids.  Has any of the owners on this thread experienced the same thing?

I am not finding that.  I am running mine with a Focusrite Forte DAC/amp.

Hi,

The mids aren't lush but they are more forward than the DT770, much fuller in fact. Maybe a tiny bit of recession, but not a lot.

Well that's good to know.  For my personal tastes, recessed mids are a deal killer for sure.  these headphones are quite intriguing.  According to Steve Guttenberg, there should be a review coming in a couple of weeks.

Picked up a pair of these on the cheap from Amazon (~150ish) and unfortunately you really cannot wear them with glasses without them completely losing the seal on your ears.  I suppose if I wore them more and more and broke in the pads more, they's seal around my glasses, but I don't want to waste that time listening to subpar music!  The V-Moda LP/LP2s and the UE6000s I've tried recently are both great w/ glasses, but I just guess these pads are not forgiving enough.  Oh well...from what I can tell, they sound damn good...I just can't wear my contacts all day after looking at a computer screen all day, so these just won't cut it.

Try the velour pads on your COP. I wear glasses and have no problems with the velour pads.

Not that his reviews contain any detail about the sound :D

That is an option! I would really hate to have  pair of cans that LOST seal because of glasses of all things... that would infact be incredibly assine lol

This is a great price on the COP.  At that price, it's a no brainer.  Buy it!

I've been eyeing the COPs and DT 770/80 for the past few days, after a few weeks of research into new headphones for the office. They were about $164 (price shown in cart), and I was really really close to ordering them today and now they've jumped up to #172. I'm kind of annoyed.

Thanks everyone for all the reviews and comparisons with the 770s and HD25-1 IIs, which were also on my list. I'm still a bit torn with the 770s but think I have ruled the Senns out, especially since they are the more expensive of the 3.

They're at $149 right now.

You can use camelcamelcamel.com to set a target price and they will email you when it reaches that price. Pretty handy.
