Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Have been comparing the COP and the DT 990 Pros 250 ohm driven by an E11 and sourced from my ipad, iphone 5 and my pc.  In all instances the DT 990 Pro is winning to my ears.  Their mids and highs are much more forward and clear although I'm finding myself throwing them on EQ setting 1 to boost the bass just a bit.  The COPs certainly get better when amped because switching to high gain makes their higher end come forward.  EQ settings stay at 0 for me because of the already adjustable bass on the headphones themselves.  Overall though I'm liking both and will be keeping both for use in different listening situations.

Velour pads should be arriving tomorrow so I'm excited to try them on the COPs

Hey,

I've found that the COP have more midrange than the DT990 and DT880. Those headphones sound thin in comparison.

More midrange? Hmm now that's interesting. I have yet to find a Beyer that I like... maybe that'll change (but I'm not holding my breath)

Just a big headsup, the new russian headphone enthusiast site has reviewed & measured these:

Not bad at all, less of a midrange recession than other bassheavy Beyers, only around 1kHz it drops a little lower than I'd optimally prefer. I like the look of the "vibrant" bass setting for my personal tastes. However I get a little worried about plausible upper-mid ringing seeing the sudden drop at 7kHz.

HeadRoom thought enough of these headphones to put them on their Ultimate Headphones list:

Just tried these today and I was VERY impressed! The price is VERY reasonable and attractive at it's $199 pricetag at my headphone store. I REALLY liked the bass these things created, nice punch all the way down to sub bass! It sounded like a minor V shape but I didn't get to test the treble long enough. I was just so interested in the BASS these created. My guilty pleasure is definitely bass, even though I'm a Mid and Treble head. I'm actually considering selling my HD-25-1-ii for one of these as a portable... Seriously... But it was a quick listen so I have no right to say too much

I'd still take the HD25 over the COPs for just about everything except for bass without an amp. :D

I never use my HD-25 anymore. I feel that with the Beyer Custom Ones, I can start using portable headphones instead of IEMs. I never liked Supra Aural so the Custom Ones should be a nice change. But I'm still wondering... This or the M-100 for more?
