did a simple pad / headband swap on my COP

The velour earpads are much more comfortable, but you have to remember to turn up the baseports a little higher because the velour causes you to lose out on quite a bit of the base.

I did notice that, a small price to pay for the comfort increase in my opinion

Lists of mods and accessories that I have added to my 3 pairs (I only own 1 right now, the other were presents to my cousin and my sister) of COPs:

- The Beyerdynamic COP Headset Gear Custom One Pro Microphone
- Black Lamb Leather Audeze Angled Earpads
- Beyerdynamic Real Leather Aviator Headbands (both black and brown)
- Custom Cut 1mm Thick Real Carbon Fiber Covers
- Painting And Then Glossy Acrylic Coating All Of The Removable Plastic Accents
- Beyerdynamic DT 770 600 Ohm Drivers

Wow, nice work man!

I have also a pair of these headphones and i´m thinking about changing the drivers, too.
Did you just soldered the new ones in or was there more to do? (except improving looks and comfort)

and are these earpads a big improvement to the original ones of the COP?

Ya, pretty much. As long as it isn't one of the telsa model drivers all that you'll have to do is solder them in. The telsa drivers involve quite a bit of dremeling to get rid of extra plastic from the COP housing to get them to fit.

Yes, these earpads are a huge improvement from the original ones. They are much softer than the originals considering that they both are thinker and made out of real sheep's leather, and they are also angled which is better for sound reaching your ears. The only issue that I was having with them was that they moved around to much and kept falling of, but I've already come up with a mod that fixes that, too. I'll be posting photos of it here shortly.

Nice, guess then I will also get these earpads.

So you have tried it with the tesla drivers, too?

Well, I've only placed the drivers into COP housing to see what'd happen. I've pretty much only conceptualized what mods need to be done in order for them to fit (as with all of the other mods that I have done in the past). I should have also mentioned that Telsa's don't require the Audeze earpads since the drivers for them are already angled.

Oh, and btw what drivers are you planning using to replace your COP's?

I´ll probably use the drivers from the T90 or a 600 ohm DT770.

Maybe you can give me some advise, which driver would sound the best in it? (I´ve never listened to the T90, just the DT770)

Btw, i´ve heard that Beyerdynamic is using the same drivers for the 770/880/990. Is that true?

To cover all of those questions, basically you'll have to understand these 2 things: closed-backed housing (for open or semi-open styled drivers) cause loss of bass response, however using leather earpads instead of the velour ones (most beyerdynamic headphone use velour) would increase the base response.

I'll separate the drivers (adding some suggestions of my own) into three categories for you:

Closed:         -600 ohm DT770 (these have a terrible bass response from ~20-38hz though so they'll need to be paired with leather earpads too, http://www.headphone.com/pages/build-a-graph)
-T5p (low ohms unfortunately, but they would work well with the COP housing; since these are originally used with leather earpads you should still with using leather for them)

Semi-Open:   -T1 (these use originally use velour, so pairing them with leather would significantly increase bass response, and it'd be smart to turn the bassports up maybe all the way)
                   -DT880 (same as T1)

Open:           -T90
                   -DT990

I recommend not using open styled drivers at all.

The drivers of the 770/880/990 are different.

Your best options are the 600 ohm DT 770/880 or Tesla T5p/T1. If you go with either of the DT models then pair them with leather Audeze earpads (https://www.audeze.com/products/accessories/lcd-earpads), and keep the bassports set to positions 2, 2.5, or 3 (for 880 you can maybe try position 4 and see how that goes). If you go with the T5p drivers then you should get the T5p earpads from beyerdynamic (http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts/ohrmuschelsatz-40.html) and not the Audeze ones since the T5p drivers are angled; set base ports to 2, 2.5, or 3. Lastly, if you go with the T1 drivers get these earpads (http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts/edt-800-ls.html or http://www.beyerdynamic.de/shop/hah/spareparts/edt-800-lb.html) since these offer better sealing to give a better base response than the T5p earpads (you can get those earpads for the T5p drivers as well but in that case set the baseports to 2) and aren't angled as well; set T1 to position 4.

That must be great! What were the odds, lol. Man, I'm really jealous, I wish I lived in Germany. I hear everything is so closely connected to public transportation routes in such a way that it's really easy to get around without a car. There are so many products that are from Germany that are just better, too. I find myself ordering stuff from there a lot. I also heard great things about the education system there, apparently really great for learning (here in America they focus too much on academics but you actually learn very little).

That'd be great, I'd love to hear your updates!
