Trust me, you definetly want to use the stock pads. I think switching them out could mess up the sound, besides the stock pads are super comfortable. Under 100 there isn't much of a point to upgrade cable, as the stock cable work well for being a stock cable. If you need balanced, go for beyer's own 4 pin xlr cable made for T1, they are very nice.

I got a good custom one made at surfcables for $100. Needed one to use on a Pono Player in balanced mode. They had some longer 3.5 mm connectors that fit nicely into the Amiron. There's no part number on their site for them, but if you email, they will make them.

Dobrescu George , nice photos, until I seen these I never noticed the Beyerdynamic name on the headband. Had to go look at my pair to see if it was there, it was !

I had the chance to take a few photos of Amiron during my review on Opus #1s :)

I think that @Oscar-HiFi would love some of those albums and songs :)

Some good music there :D I don't know a lot of them but Dance Gavin Dance are awesome, got to see them last year with all 3 vocalists, was incredible!

Just purchased the Amiron and have to say I love them. Sound is so good---the most comfortable phones I have ever used. I sought these out after reading all the reviews---wanted a high quality phone that had nice non fatiguing high end. I have the Focal Utopia and Fostex TH 900-with moon audio black cable--totally different sounding but both have piercing high end that can drive you crazy. Really happy with the Amiron---
I had the 1770 briefly--loved the sound but they were so uncomfortable after a short while--these Amiron's are now my favorite headphones based on sound quality and comfort.

I tested how well Amiron responds to EQ today, and it responds incredibly well :)

You can EQ this baby with a LOT more bass if you desire, and also with a lot more treble, there is no distortion, regardless what kind of signature you want to give them, if you like playing with EQ :)

The potential is amazingly high and now I understand what Beyerdynamic did with their driver tech, I mean, besides Meze 99 Classics and Audeze LCD-MX4, Beyerdynamic Amiron is one of the Headphones with the lowest distortion and with the highest EQ adaptation I heard, the amount it can do and still staying clear is staggering considering that I went ahead and played a lot with it today, with the arrival of Hiby R6 :)

These via my 300R is not sufficient bass & dynamics in general severely lacks. I need to run these through my Magni 3 for best results.

I see you have the Meze 99 C--I was thinking about picking up a set. How would you say they compare with the Amiron? Do you recommend them highly? thanks--
Different beasts considering closed back vs open back. Also the fact that as I said above its tough to use the Amiron with my 300R which I use my 99C with. I recommend both highly though. Similar in the sense that both are not bass shy (Amiron when properly driven) though the 99C has a bit more midbass as well as mids more forward than the more v-shaped Amiron. Both are very comfortable. I use my 99C with Brainwavz Sheepskin oval pads.
