Another question what Amp would be best suited for the Amirons I do have a dac for my pc with my Active ruark mr1s mk2 so it's a desktop headphone amp I'm looking for

iFi iDSD Black Label or FiiO Q5 with AMP5, either of those would make a great job :)

As for a desktop one, maybe somebody with more desktop gear can advice. I have tons of portables because I still need them portably sometimes :)

Magni 3. It's seriously a no brainer buy. That's what I'm using with a Burson DAC

Thank you i might have to get the Magni 3 from the USA shipped there is never any left in the Schitt EU im in the uk so it will have to be shipped. How you finding the Magni 3 with the Amirons?
Drives them perfectly. I think a DAC has more to do with sound than an amp.

I wouldn’t say the same thing for the two sennheiser models, as hd800 is analytical and thin sounding. Hd800s is said to have good body in bass and lower mids, crystal clear but non fatiguing treble. That is exactly how i would describe amiron, witch is why I am really wondering how they compare.

HD800 and HD800S are similar.

Main difference is that HD800 has kind of a steely tonality to it that's not there on the HD800S.
Other than that, both are on the bass light side of things in the big scheme of things, both preserving a relatively dry and analytical nature when paired with neutral gear.
For reference, HD800/HD800S have less bass presence and dynamic impact compared with other quality dynamic headphones like AKG K812, Tesla T1, Tesla T1 (2nd Gen), AKG K712.
Both HD800 and HD800S are closer to DT880 and K702 in that regard. Since the treble is slightly lower on the HD800S, the bass gets a little bit more presence compared with HD800, but the difference is still very subtle. These two are designed to not exhibit any hint of bloom in the bass.

As far as I know, the Amiron should be perceived considerably warmer than HD800/HD800S and most likely a better all-rounder.

I have found that mine became completely burned in after only about 50 hours or so of use. I don't even know how many hours I have on it now. I would guess maybe 80 or so. This headphone changes and improves in sound quite drastically during burn in. It is much more so than many other headphones. However, it does not take hundreds of hours for the changes to happen. It seems that after about 50 hours or so that it finally offers its best. I have really been loving this headphone.

Agreed, out of the box it sounds off. Lacks dynamics, a little shrill treble etc. When burned in properly, they just sound so realistic in compairson. I keep wondering how they compare to the neewer offerings in the sub 1000$ market (mrspeakers afo and audeze lcd 2c in particular)

I own both. Dt 1990 have more sub bass impact (beyer rumble), speed, tightness, while amiron take a softer approach with less sub bass, but more warmth in the mid bass. Note that both have extremly clean, dynamic and tactile bass preformence, that scales very well. Amiron is better for softer music like rock, acoustic, while dt 1990 pro does better with more agressive generes like metal, edm etc.

Yes I agree somewhat, the DT1990 is more punchy, the Amiron is fuller and smoother though :)

I was mainly quoting to catch Renato Fury out for not having heard the headphones yet having an opinion.
