Hello beyer user,

I just bought a beyer dt990/250 from amazon but I am unable to determine whether this is 32, 250 or 600 ohms version as there is no marking..... Can anyone advise how can I determine the ohm?
I am asking about this because I use my ipod mini and it can drive without problem, at 50% volume it already loud enough for my ear...

My pair had a silver sticker on the front of the box, bottom left corner that indicated they were the 600ohm version, but I don't know if they are marked on the 32/250ohm boxes.

Do they sound veiled at 50% volume ? My 250 ohm sound shocking through my iPod, volume wise, yea they go loud enough, but about being driven correctly they sound like I'm listening to them through a pillow

All of them need amping.  Fortunately, they also put the impedance on the plastic of the plug, so you can take a look there.

If not, do you have a multimeter around?  Checking impedance isn't very hard (one end to the tip, one to the sleeve)

The plug doesn't show any marking also.... However, I measured and it show 255 & 253 ohm... So finally I can confirm it is indeed 250ohm version. Even the boxes doesn't show anything...

Some of the comments I read about dt990/250 were not very nice, like treble too shrill, bass bloated, mid recess etc.... I don't find all these true; treble is clear (unlike my a900 which is spiky), mid have clear present and a bit of mid bass boast give the sound a nice full body.... my a900 will be retiring very soon...

First sentence: exactly and definitely, they all benefit, many say the 32's are more difficult to drive then the 250's
Second sentence: thanks, didn't even know that!

I figured that was only for the 600ohm models. Now I'm curious if the others have it printed as well :)

The 250 ohm does not--at least mine doesn't. Of course I have a DT880, but the practice is the same for all the premium DT cans. I knew that the 600 ohm models had the marking on the plug. Do the 32 ohm ones have it?

lol I didn't even know my DT990/600 had such a marking on the plug... after seeing your post I went up to check mine and was like "hey, cool!"
