Android MM no longer has limitations on audio playback
Android MM no longer has limitations on audio playback
Most (paid for) apps are optimised for all variants of Android, so have to go with lowest common denominator...so why then only samsung music player will then play files without down sampling
Android <...> have to go with lowest common denominator...

Safest bet for SQ is Marshall London it seems.
Wouldn't trust their reviews:
On the htc 10:
Its internal audio is powered by a SoC (system on chip) Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which uses Qualcomm’s WSA8815 Audio Codec. We were impressed by its ability to drive high impedance headphones, with a tested volume of only 55-60 percent, versus phones like theGoogle Nexus 6P which required 90-95 percent to reproduce the same volume.
And then:
Best audio phone 2016 UK: Internal audio quality conclusion
To conclude, the phone with the best internal audio quality is the Samsung Galaxy S6, due to its Wolfson Microelectronics WM1840 Audio Codec. The phone could produce fantastic quality audio. We noticed a very minimal amount of distortion and a good overall frequency reproduction through the lows, mids and highs. It should be noted that the Samsung Galaxy S6 does have a slightly warmer tone over phones such as the iPhone 6s. However, due to its fantastic bass extension and even its tonality the Galaxy S6 was able to produce some of the best sound from a phone. It should be noted that both the Marshall Londo and BQ Aquaris have fantastic audio DACs, with both sharing the same Wolfson WM8281 audio chipset, which provide a great internal audio reproduction. The HTC 10 also impressed us with its SoC performance of the Snapdragon 810 chipset.
I'm sure plenty folks could find this conclusion as not very valid.
this is seriously flawed quoting myself from this thread:

The ZTE Axon 7 has been officially unveiled with AKM chips. We might have another contender:

i did not understand what u mean by that
ZTE said they included a AKM Chip in the ZTE Axon mini. However, there is no way to enable this chip.
I've been trying different apps and asked around on several forum. No one seems to have high-res output on the ZTE mini.
The support desk is not answering my emails and messages. I am really doubting if there is a AKM chip in the Mini version of the Axon.
While the phone is otherwise great for the price paid, I am not happy with their costumer service at all....
Can i conclude the best smartphone for audiophile are:
1.z3
2.m8/m9
3.iphone 6/s
4.meizu pro editions
5.some of the vivo models
sorry, I missed out on those 3 models.. Can we do a poll here or make a list of the best music phone.. I really need to ditch my g flex 2.. I can't stand the SQ already..HTC 10,v10 and g5 are out of my leagueNot really, the LG V10, HTC 10, and LG G5 with the Hifi module (the phone alone is just average) would probably top the list.
