Bought A new LG G8 ThinQ and found this on the box.


I played a couple of MQA files and was quite surprised how good this phone sounded.
This blows away my LG G7. From what I've read only the G8 and the V50 can unfold MQA files.

The V40 can do this too

Even V30, G7 and V40 are able to unfold MQA.

I've had some listening comparison and can't hear any differences between 44,1/16 flac and mqa.
So my wallet is safe from that.

My Hiby R6 Pro plays MQA files but it doesn't unfold them properly. My Hiby R3 does and it makes a difference, to my ears.

Playing mqa and playing with the ability to unfold are very different things, afaik.
There is a post that's showing the crap about that problem.
Its really weird.

This is quite disappointing. I've heard the audio quality of Vivo Nex Dual Display which is also using AK 4377A, and the audio quality not as good as Vivo Nex S

I think even iBasso DC01 will sound better. Just my preliminary thoughts....

I think so. LG may be the only one still stand in SQ.

I need to try this vivo camera first, if it is awesome, then I think i will go for it. Otherwise, next phone would be LG.

I think no, cause the same dac were on vivo x23 - not a top at all

When I can change my vivo xplay5s fpr something that step up in that 3 years?

Looking to get a new phone, budget around £200, with a good sounding speaker (maybe Bluetooth speaker level) and great 3.5mm aux. waterproofing or a relatively high IP rating would also be great. I know that all of this for the price is a pipe dream, but the best I can get for the money will have to be good enough. However, audio from the headphone jack is the definite priority here
Additionally, I've been looking a lot at VIVO's line on aliexpress, namely the S1 (Chinese version), and similar, and was curious as to the audio quality and calibre on those devices. So essentially my decision is boiling down to either buying a new replacement v30 (which is going for around £130 on the site) a G7 thinq, or the vivo phones previously mentioned
Any responses will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Any phone from my list would be all suitable.
Meizu pro5 from taobao.
LG V30 in ebay
vivo xplay6 is king if you can find refurbished/second hand.
