Hi.
The Quad dac with the build in amp is a huge improvement over the 8s.
8s is just a low cost one, imo.
They should take the Term "8c" for cutted, instead of 8s. ^^
They are going to fool their costumers with this piece of gear.
At least, It's all about the price tag.

If you're in the position to pick a V40, don't bother with G8s, nor G8.
any USB dac amp better

You are correct. The LG G8 can power my DT770 pro 250ohm to loud volume in high gain mode with an adapter.I'm surprised. But i doubt it would get close to the volume of the V30.

Hi DM.
The amp in G8 is still the same as V30.
The difference is located on the dac, or the sound tuning by meridian.
The B&O sound is less "clinical", i think. Didn't compare the phones by myself.

Yes, for none Quad-dac phones ore something similar, there is an option.

But don't misread that. A small USB-dac dongle isn't capable to deliver same power output as the V30, V40, G7 or G8, afaik.
That's why i'd take the advantage of the V40( or G8) is the best available "all-in-one"-solution so far.

When it comes to you faved G8s, Ibasso DC-01 or 02 will be a great option.
Make sure to use neutron or Uapp the get the best results of it.

Ibasso DC-01 only drive 32 ohm

Let's start at the beginning. :)

Do you own a smartphone like G8s?
What's your budget?

Headphone is DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm at 3.5 se, right?

If necessary, are you able to raise your budget just for a great sounding device?
Are you in hurry to pick a device as soon as possible, or can you wait and save some cash for better gear?

Pm'ed. :)

Afaik there isn't an usb-dac/amp dongle to compete with the LG phones mentioned above.
Dedicated, battery powered amps ain't an option for me, couz i wouldn't carrying a second device.

My advice is to take the V40 and enjoy the best mobile aio out there.

Btw. the Ibasso DC02 is capable to drive the 990pro.
It depends on your volume level to be satisfied or not.
With the DC-02 you can reach to a moderate level, i think.
Otherwise, you need more power to make the 990pro shine. :)

How about the V50?Have you heard it?Would that be an upgrade in sound quality from the G8?Or would you still recommend V40 over all LG phones?

Didn't hear the V50, but it's the same as V40, afaik, but with an increased battery.
It's tuned by meridian, so there ain't much difference, I think.
