I've been looking on the forums for quite a while searching for the right earphones for me. However, many of the earphones that had positive reviews also had some negative reviews... So i'd like some recommendations on IEMS for around $250. I listen to all sorts of music, mainly asian pop and music with lots of bass.

Vsonic GR07 is really nice.
Personally I also like Brainwavz B2/Fischer Audio DBA-02 and Hifiman RE262 but those can be more hit and miss. B2 is perhaps too bright and without an amp the RE262 doesn't shine that much.
You should really check ljoker's thread, ClieOS's comparison, ...

You should go into the CKM500 thread and ask if anyone has thoughts on J-Pop or K-Pop. Price is below 100 but people seem to be very high on it, regardless. The CKM700 might be coming out later this year though so you could always wait. Same deal with the ASG-2 from Aurisonics thats supposed to be designed more for audiophiles rather than stage performers compared to the ASG-1.2.

Thanks for all the replies guys. i'm considering the GR07s but some of the reviews describe a neutral sound. Could someone clarify?

Don't quote me on this, but someone on here VSonic updated the GR07 some time after release.  The updated version features a more bass-heavy sound while the original was neutral.  I don't know if this is true or not though.

What kind of music do you listen too? Do you prefer mids, bass or treble? Do you like a analytical or "fun" sound? We can help you far better if you answer these questions. And if you're in the US or international will help to regarding price/availability.

The Vsonic GR07 is very reference / neutral.  In order to appreciate it, you should start with a lower end Vsonic like the Vsonic R04 updated version.

If you like asian pop you'll prefer the Sony MDR-7550 / EX800ST, which is overlooked on head-fi.  It's made for vocal monitoring in studios in Japan, how closer to J-pop can you get? Lol!

I live in Australia, so not much choice unleas i ship internationally. Would prefer good mids and treble, but with bass that isn't nonexistent.

Neutral kind of means that they have a flattish frequency response. Not like a V-shaped or U-shaped sound. They are true to the source. Depending on your current IEM they might sound boring, harsh, ...

Neutral does not emphasize on a particular range - meaning you will hear the music the way it is.
