Best headphone purchase, worst headphone purchase you have made

Best - JVC Marshmallow

I got these for like $20. I semi Kramer modded it and i liked it (skipped out the foam)

Worst - JBL Reference 220

The cable on my JVC Marshmallow ripped so I went to look for another cheap pair. I bought these for double the price but I don't think it is much better than the JVC Marshmallow. Cloth cable is a pro or a con depending on how you use it. Microphonics are a bitch on these. I bought this for the accessories but unless you can get these for like $20 you shouldn't get them. The case is bulky as hell and would not fit comfortably in your pocket. The extra accessories are useless, the only tip you would use from this pack are the foam tips for isolation. The only useful thing that comes with this is the 1/4" adapter and the flight adapter but for me I took the flight adapter on a plane that used the 1/4" headphone jacks so I ended up using those stupid airplane headphones. It's horrible.

My best headphone is the Denon D1001. I paid $125 for them. They're good but to me not $125 good.

Worst purchase : Sennheiser HD280Pro. Reminds me of the Logitech Z2300 in a way... - hollow, veiled.

JVC Gumys are, by far, the worst purchase I've ever made. I was looking for a headphone to tide me over for a week when my Ety er-6i broke. I had absolutely no expectations going in but these headphones are not only terrible, they're harmful to the ears. The sound gave me a headache and it probably damaged my eardrums after half an hour of listening. I ripped it to pieces on the bus and I stomped on the remains 1 hour after I bought them.

You could have just returned them.

Or were you trying to make a statement? Like a post-modern bra-burning for guys?

I'm pretty sure I couldn't return them after I opened them. Especially since my only reason was "I didn't like the sound quality because I've been spoiled by IEMs."

Yea, it was a kind of statement on my part. I own bad headphones, I have a pair of Sony Mdr-700 on my table right now, but I had never heard something as bad as the Gumys. I needed to extinguish those buds and ensure that they never abuse another pair of eardrums again.

WORST: EP630. As they don't fit, sound & comfort is a real mess.

Almost 3 years later, totally different creature.

Best: The big Alessandro. By far.
Worst: Vivanco SR950, 30€ Ebay crap.

Worst: Ultrasone Pro Line 2500

Best: Grado SR80. My first real pair of headphones.

Worst: Apple In-Ear Headphones. These were the ones that were released a few years ago for $40. My $5 pair of Marshmallows kicks the crap out of these. They are iBuds with silicone sleeves.

Best: HD650.
Second, and not remotely close is...damn, it's between the HD555 and the triple fis. The triple fis sound much better, but for 100USD, i think the HD555 are a bargain!

WORST: Grado SR225. Jeez...they are terrible.
