Hey people.

I've looked all the way through all the forum, looking for this. I've heard of the Koss Portapros, the PX100, the Sennheiser HD 201 (which fall into the category I'm looking for), KSC75. So you see, I've seen a lot.

I'm looking for ISOLATION, and the Portapros don't have it, or the px100, and obviously the KSC75.

There's so much buzz about these headphones, and I think I would choose any of them, if they had isolation lol.

So that's pretty much it, I want isolation, for under $50, and I want a similar sound to the portapros. As I said, I've seen the 201's, and then the Audio Technica ATH-M30. What else can you guys recommend?

Thank.

edit: talk about sound quality, and comfortability too, if possible =)

Superlux is a good bang for buck brand.  They rip off bigger companies design and sound, but use cheaper materials.  They have the hd 660, which is a beyerdynamic copy, but I believe are a little bit above your price.  There also is the hd 662, an AKG copy, and hd 440, I'm not sure what that is.  Superlux will be fairly hard to find, I think they're on eBay and quite possibly some other places.  I've never tried the m30s so I can't speak for them.

I'm gonna second FlyingDolphin post. Superlux made good headphones for its price. Try search for Superlux HD669 (about $35) ot 651 (about $20).

The Koss Pro DJ100's have decent isolation, but they really excel with sound quality. I refuse to believe there could possibly be better sound at this price range. They are on par with my AKG K271's, which cost $150.

I also think the DJ100 are the best option. I also do like the Maxell DHP-II, but for another $10 it's better to get something that's built better and sounds better.

Beyer Dynamic DT-235 also isn't bad if you don't mind a superaural headphone (resting on ear). I do think they're much better with the DHP-II pads and some modding.
In no way to they compare to the DJ100, but they still sound good.

except that they are out of the price range.
I will definitely consider them in the future though. (I put them on my Amazon Wish List)

I ordered the ATH-M30, so I'll come back with a review soon.

Anyone know how the pa2v2 amp pairs with the dj100? About to receive them soon from bestbuy (amazing deal - can't wait to try them!) but I read on countless threads the dj100 needs an amp to sound its best.

I'd recommend either the Superlux HD440 or HD662F - they are available on Ebay around $50 and are on par with headphones costing 4 times as much.  Very good sound for the price.    I usually listen to Senn HD650 or HD600 and prefer them to the Superlux but not by a wide margin.  Hope this helps.

Superlux rarely gets mentioned on these boards, so I think I'll chime in as well. I've only listened to the HD681 and HD668B (both semi-open), so I can't speak about their closed cans, but they're definitely worth a look below the $50 mark. I also have a pair of HD650's and I usually reach for the Superluxes when I want a different sound signature.

In Europe these can be had through Thomann and Amazon. Not sure about US.

Being a studio engineer we have went thru lots of headphones and worn out quite a few... and over the years..  by far for Closed Ear headphones that you will find under $50 USD that is is the Superlux HD-662 series.... Takes the cake.... I track with the HD-662F a very natural bass very flat can no major bumps here....  someone mentioned the HD-669 an amazing can for sure but does not fall into the under $50 range more like $69 and worth much more...    Doyen AudioHipster
