the AD900X are a good alternative to the HD600s, similar signatures (sparkling vocals and highs, solid mids and recessed sub-bass)

Personal preference obviously but i think the 900Xs place nicer on the head, as well as the slightly more airy signature making it suitable for acoustic recordings and vocal dominant music

Grado 325

Senn HD650

Completely different cans.....both top notch and both perform over the price point IMHO

the HD650 can be had for this price used and in great shape.

i dun like K702 for vocals...
it has this spike somewhere in the upper mids that bothered me.

What about the 650 vs 600 for vocals?

Comes down to preference.  HD600 is more natural sounding - and a bit airier.  I personally think it's more tonally correct.

HD650 is a little darker, and warmer - more lush.

I think the Sennheiser HD600 and Vali would be a nice combo. I had the HD580 which was a very good headphone for the price I paid and a supreme all-rounder, though I didn't find it the most exciting headphone around (definitely not as full sounding as planars). If I went back to the price and had to pick one today I'd probably choose the Philips Fidelio X1 (the X2 seems to be around the corner).
