Ones I have been looking at

Of the ones you listed, I would pick the sennheiser hd600. You cant go wrong with sennheiser

. If you are going to be doing any mobile listening, the V-Moda m100 are a very good contender.

No real competition for Sennheiser in this price range IMO. HD 580/600/650.

Yes, but you might be able to find a pair of HD 580's for ~$100-200 if you are really lucky and do not mind how ugly they are.

what about the he 400 they can be had for $300 and the hd600s are 275 right now. I read the he 400 are very sibilant and ear piercing treble and I hate that so it might be a deal breaker

Sibilant and not great for vocals. I would throw the Fidelio X1 in the mix if you want a little more bass presence than the 600 will give you.

at the discount price, the hd600 would be hard to pass up. I have nothing but good things to say about the he400s though. didn't really have any problems with silibance that was not present in the source. If the source was silibant, I would hear the silibance with my he-560 as well.

  I love the Philips Fidelio X1's. 280$ i think.

cheaper than that nowadays. saw it for $260 on amazon a few days ago. weird that the price jumped back up.

the new x2 is about to come out, so should be able to get the x1 at a bigger discount soon.
