i just came to the realization that i am a minimalist that likes audio hardware that works. on my desk, i want to get rid of clutter. so if the hardware doesn't do its job, i'm getting it out of the way. also, the less wires the better, so i need hardware to pull double duty. and definitely no duplications, like two home headphone amps.
therefore, i have a lcd monitor that plugs into the tv cable, has a line out to the headphone amp, and of course the hookup to the comp. and video in from the PS2.
i have a headphone amp that takes a signal from the tvmonitor, and the pc (soundcard). and goes either to the cans or a preamp out to the receiver.
the receiver has the headphone preamp in, the playstation in, a Terk radio tower in, and 2 speakers and a sub out. i shelved the turntable and graphic EQ for now, sitting with the laserdisc player. this means the isoblocks get no play for now, but the vibrapods are under the PS2.
the pc has a crapload of things plugged into it - but for sound it has a ipod in/out, and a emu 0404 out to the Solo amp.
it may sound like alot, but it took a while to plan it all out where it looks pretty svelte and most of it can be controlled by remote too, even the subwoofer levels (hooked into my receiver's rear speakers, which have a volume control on my remote).
btw got my 3960 back, plugged it into my main tv, the other dvd player that used to be there is now 1911's. he got his denon back and i have my old sony receiver back too. i'm pretty happy with the setup i have now - famous last words? i'll take a pic later!
