500+ Head-Fier
Single-driver BA designs can be beautifully implemented (e.g. Custom Art FIBAE Black). Are there any reviews/impressions of the AV1s anywhere?
They shipped my AV4 to Netherlands for me. But I went to Jaben Jakarta for molding since I had to attend an event in Jakarta. Go to their instagram page and you can find the CEO’s phone number. You can whatsapp him directly. Very friendly guy.Going to email them on monday but does anyone know if they ship to europe and if so how much it would cost and how long it takes? Also do they take paypal, if not how is payment made?
Thanks

So here is my take on AV1s.
Please mind that I'm rather new on reviewing stuff so I wouldn't able to get too technical on this small review. I'll just write what I know & understand.
According to Mr. Alvon himself, avara AV1s was tuned based on the renowned Fitear F111.
First impression:
Amazing.
Never thought this single BA could handle all frequencies so well. The low, mid and high are very balanced and harmonious.
The low here is surprisingly deep and punchy for a single BA. The decay is neither too slow nor too fast, making it rumble well like my Dynamic Driver based IEMs. But of course, it will not as much as a DD. So for those who are non-basshead but still wanted some neat bass, Av1s can be a good option for you. All of this was based on the Billie Eilish's Bad Guy and Dua Lipa's Swan Song that got loads of bass in it.
The first thing that I notice after trying the AV1s for the first time is the super forwarded mid. Maybe because I'm too get used to the V/U-shape sound sig, so I was kind of surprised by it. However, with this characteristic, the vocals here is undoubtedly full bodied, clear and intimate, especially for female voice, which usually felt thin and distanced with V-shaped sound sig. You can even hear them taking their breath and tongue clicking. Songs like Adele's Send My Love (To Your New Lover) or I Miss You from her 25's album really shines here.
Into the high section, the treble on AV1s is on the smooth but airy side. The treble still extends well without losing the micro details and sounding harsh or shouty to the ear, making it very comfortable for a long listening session. Meanwhile, cymbals and timbre here are also accurate and natural to my ear, thus, with it, the sound reproduction of the guitar or drums are very beautifully presented by AV1s.
In term of the resolution and separations, AV1s is also superb. But well, it's a BA anyway, so no doubt in that aspects.
How about the staging? It was one of the biggest amongst my collection, but i think it can be better.
Verdict:
You should try it out. It will worth your money. And as Avara's claim on AV1s their best single BA IEM to date, I can say they really live up to their claim as it was very well tuned and fun to listen to.
Nb: this review of AV1s is using my Samsung S9+ & Shanling UP2 as my source. Shanling is a near neutral sounding portable DAP, while my Samsung is neutral to a bit warm source.
The different I notice between them was the staging and the bass quantity. With Shanling UP2, the staging become even bigger and wider than when using my phone and for the bass, it was less and tighter on my UP2, but more quantity and looser on my phone.
The AV1s is also relatively easy to drive, either with my phone or my Shanling and there wasn't any hiss at all.
Unfortunately I didn't have any IEM in the same range as the AV1s. Most high end I have before the AV1s is my TFZ no.3, which is around $109 and it's a single DD based IEM.Nice no-nonsense review, short and sweet. Any comparisons with other similar items?
Yes, indeed. Only I notice on some tracks, the vocal will sound a bit muffled or bloated while the instruments is very clear at the background I'm not sure whether it's just I'm not used to forwarded mid yet or there's something wrong with the iem itself :0Thanks for sharing your impression @yorosello!
@alvon19 did/tuned it really well I think. Maximizing the potential of its one driver. I also like his aim/idea for the sound signature, knowing well of its reach. Matches nicely with vocals. And recreates the sound of other instruments quite well. But because of its limited range, I think it had to sacrifice some spectrum. But for a one driver, it's a very good IEM. And not very costly at that too.
