of all my years listening to headphones, the HD650 is probably the one that has spent the most time on my head. have not heard the HE1 but have spent substantial time with the HE90.

I am one of probably a few hundred owners of an HE 1 and so happy every day when listening to music with it. When I first had the chance to listen to an HE 1, I was blown away by this experience. At that time I never thought that I would finally buy one, but two years and two extended listening sessions later it finally happened. In retrospective, I should have gone for the HE 1 earlier, it would have saved me time and even money! :xf_cool:

Its performance is unmatched, a different ballpark, the ONLY true endgame headphone setup, imo. Nevertheless, I can still have fun when listening to other headphones too, which is great and important (one does not have an HE 1 available on the go, for example).

If you have the chance to listen to an HE 1, just do it. It shows what is possible in music reproduction and in which regard so many other setups simply fail. Allow yourself half an hour of pure bliss, an experience to remember. And, yes, the HE 1 made me cry too, and it still does! :)

Cheers

...you are not the only one in Austria lol

I've had the pleasure of spending a good hour listening to the Orpheus and HE1 side-by-side, it was truly epic - both the craftsmanship and the audio experience.
I had a similar opportunity 😉
Hope you’re doing well!

Not to take anything away from the amazing achievement of the HE-1 or making headphones for 75 years... but when I saw this I hoped it was the announcement of an HE-1 JR (HE-60/Baby Orpheus 2).
Eh, I guess Sennheiser isn’t rushing something just because it’s an anniversary. And they designed the HE-1 to be the cost-no-object best headphone they could make, which should basically last the lifetime of someone’s good hearing.

The year isn’t over yet, though.

As much as I’ve tried over the years to find something better, I always come back to the HD-650. I’ve tried a few supposed 650 killers and they still just didn’t get the sound signature quite right. And then on the mobile side of things, the only thing that got me to get rid of my Momentum 2s were the Momentum 3s. I wish I could experience what a $50,000 Sennheiser sounded like.

@easo91, hope you get a chance once the stores open up or the next time Sennheiser brings the HE-1 to a trade show. For many, it's a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience, so hopefully the build-up of anticipation makes your time even more special for you.

Having met professors, orchestral musicians, insurance agents, and more who own an HE-1, I’ll tell you it is possible! And compared to the high end speaker world, the HE-1 looks like quite the value.

Nomax knows all. :D

HD700S? Hopefully not. That headphone is not worth saving.

Sennheiser if you're listening:

Take the HD600 tuning + add sub-bass + HD800 level of detail and lower distortion. This would be similar to the HE-1 sound signature.

Price it below $3000. Instant success!!

I'm not hopeful after the debacle that is the tuning of the HD820.

Axell Grell is long gone, no idea who is in charge of tuning now....
