Sweet. About the amp. Is there a good portable amp that also is a USB DAC I could use with my laptop when I am not on the go that would work well with the AKG 271 M2?

Yes, there are quite a few choices available for ya.  Here a few suggestions:
 
Fiio's E7-very sleek looking, great battery life, decent power output
 
Nuforce's U-dac
 
iBasso's D4-excellent power to drive most headphones well, uses regular batteries, had dual DAC chips
 
iBasso's D6-has the power to drive ANY full size headphone with authority, has dual DAC chips
