The "loosy" wing at W1000X only for the earlier/previous year batch.

Start from 2012, all W1000Xs that I met already have a nice fit, looks like ATH listen what people complain about the old wing on them. (The design is still same, but ATH do something to them so they has better clamp on head)

Never test Ax000X series, so I don't know much about them

In may 2011 i ordered a A2000X from pricejapan , nice service , i would have kept the can much more longer if it didn't fell from my head at first movement , great sounding but the loose fit was defenitevely a deal breaker for me , but if they fixed the loose fiton newer batch , it's just nice i don't plan to buy any AT headphone soon , but will folow newly developement , and how the new AD Serie compare to the old one .

Gotta bend the headband on A2kX for sure.
Probably not for those with small heads even with that, I suppose.

I don't think they going to release anything beyond W5000 and a revision of W5000 would be another 2-5 years. I think Audio Technica is doing well and got quite a reputation internationally with huge range of headphones. A whole new flagship would take years of develop. I think they have enough flagships already with AD2000, A2000 and W5000.

I got to say that those new pads look promising, I hope they would fit the older AD series so that I can replace the stock pad on my AD2000.

Edit* - out of all the ATH headphones that I own, the A series got the best pads and fit in my experiences, the A2000X is the best of the bunch.

Using a converter, the price of the AD900x @£157 looks very reasonable. But if the AD900 is anything to go by, the actual price in the UK will be double that and stay like that for years :frowning2:

I just saw a listing on Amazon Japan and it does seem nov 16 is the release date and it seems to go for just under $820 there so closer to $900 imported.

Also it looks like they are using the same housing from the AD2k

Probably meaningless since it's been translated from Japanese, but the Audio Technica website describes, or rather it alludes to the sound signature they are trying to achieve for each model

AD500x - "The newly developed large diameter driver that reproduces low-to mid-high range which is powerful and beautiful, to deliver broadband play"

AD700x - "with a good driving force to achieve a beautiful sonorous tone."

AD900x - "While there is a thick, clear sound I will play. (Aimed at people who prefer more bass? I hope so)

The AD1000x and 2000x don't really say much about the sound signature.

Gotta love literal Japanese to English translations

Two more weeks until this hits the streets. Any brave reviewers out there?

I read the two articles and didn't find much info relating to specific sound changes. Mostly it's a new housing and a change in the "wings" (and of course, the plug). Specs have changed a bit though. Just looking between the AD900 and AD900X, there's a change in impedance (35Ω vs 38Ω), max input power (75mW vs 100mW), and weight (250g vs 265g). The weight increase is understandable due to the new frame. However, my audio-fu is weak and I am unable to comprehend the implications of the other changes.

That's probably the most interesting bit. Someone's doing something about the infamously weak bass?! Hmmm..... guess we'll wait and see. The other interesting bit about them is the open pricing (the AD1000X and AD2000X have set prices). Those of you looking to get any one of those may have some fun price hunting.

Less interesting was the fact that the flagship AD2000X will be domestically produced while the AD1000X and AD900X will be produced in China. The Phile-web article didn't mention where the AD700X and AD500X would be produced, but I assume they'd be the same as the non-flagships.

AD1000X will be also made in Japan (it's what i get with google translation) . and lesser model as you posted made in China.

I allready have an AD2000 and don't have real confot issue with it so not planing to upgrade to AD2000X unless a real improvement is done to sound . Will patiently wait for reviews just for curiosity .

Woops! You're right about that. I guess I lost track as I was reading. The new casings make them all look the same...

I'm looking to get an AD700 or AD900. I'm waiting to see what people think about AD700X and AD900X. If they're nice, I might pick one of them up instead.

I'm also in the market for either the AD900X or the AD900.  Any price information on the AD900X yet?
