Probably.  It will be quite a stretch.  AD700x baffles are 110mm, I think?  Or 105mm, like K553.  I'm pretty sure I saw someone around here mention it.

I know how you feel.. For jumping in to mid fi we all looking for our own ideal combination of preferences. Me myself can't help but feeling giddy and just want to listen more out of my MA900 I bought less than a month ago. Despite its lack of popularity, It has the best combination of Comfort and SQ I ever find and never regret my purchase one bit :D

Just to say, I have ma900 in the past too, but sold off due to my TMJ illness, I really miss a biggest sound and warmish of ma900, it sound better when pair with bright source thought, and now my condition getting better they are discontinued, so sad.

I'm fortunate enough that in my local area, some old new stock still exist at quite a fair price.. And they still have some at Amazon. I'm looking into buying one of the Audio technica AD (Esp AD1000X) model... But unfortunately here the price is quite high due to its popularity as gaming headphone.. Sigh...

Probably not, the AD2000X is an open back headphone and the TH-900 is a closed back planar in a totally different price bracket so not much comparison.  To my knowledge, none of Audio Technica's Air or Art Monitor headphones have a V-shaped sound while the TH-900 is as V-shaped as it gets with extremely boosted bass and treble and mids sucked away into a void beneath them.

In my limited knowledge, Audio Technica have never made a "Reference" headphone that signify their brand, like how HD800, MDRZ1R, LAB2, T1, etc. I wonder when Audio Technica will start charting >$1000 market...

Shush, don't give 'em ideas.  It would be nice if they did make some "reference" able to throw down with HD700, T90, and K701 and so forth, however.

A2000X is actually V-shaped.  Not too much, and then the treble is stronger than the bass.

The Fostex TH-900 is a closed back dynamic driver headphone.

My mistake about the type of driver it uses.  Nonetheless, that's a sound signature that Audio Technica doesn't seem to go for with their higher end headphones thankfully.
