The A900x is all around better than the M50.  Unless you want borderline bloated bass and a slightly recessed midrange >.>
A900x is really good, and it does not leak much either despite the low clamping force.

Just ordered these and am awaiting their arrival tomorrow- and noticed the non-portableness of the can (too big etc.)
 
Any similar sounding headphone that is more portable? Closed-back as well? (WIll be used in an office environment)

Definitely a killer value at the moment!  Not exactly A900x sounding, but they are good enough to where you won't miss them at work
V-Moda M80/Sennheiser Amperior/ESW99 are all great alternatives as well.

I've been lurking for a couple months now.  I'm taking the plunge into the hi-fi audio world, and I decided to start with the ATH-A900x's. 
 
I just got my pair in the mail yesterday. My only complaint is that there is a small dent towards the top of the right can. I don’t mind too much, but it is a tad frustrating. 
 
Aside from that, they sound fantastic. Nice pronounced bass, and clean trebels.  I plan on updating once I reach the 50 hour mark.

Quite the trooper if you keep it. Personally, I won't even buy a dented Spaghettio's w/ Meatballs can! I mean...who knows what happened to those little guys! They're going to power me through a few hours of BF4 and I need to make sure they're in tip top shape. Only the best for me.

Yay another person who games with these cans. In terms of gaming, soundstage is the most important. And if you can't game with open headphones, these have one of the best soundstages of closed headphones.

Hi everyone,
 
Have anyone tried to change ATH-A900X with ATH-A1000 (i find different posts here, some calls ATH-A1000 some W1000 also i found that ATH-A1000X) but Bagheera saying ATH-A1000 (cost about 35 EUR).
 
So just to dobule-check, should i order ATH-A1000 (something like this) and:
 
1. Do they feel more comfortable than original? (i am not very happy with original ones, after some time ears begin to sweat and holes seems bit too small, also they feel like "cheap" pleather)
2. Sound differs, of course it is up to me witch i like better, but what do You feel? It got better?
3. In this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW1NxpEtlG4) i see guy replacing pads with  ATH-W11JPN pads, and they seems to be even more conmfortable, is it possible to use with ATH-A900X? Though i can not find them somwhere.
4. Do You know any other comfortable pads that could fit ATH-A900X good/perfect?

UPDATE: Tried HiFiMan velours, won't talk about sound, too little knowledge. Had no problems putting them on with ring removed. What can i say about comfort, they seem to bring more clamping force, maybe good for one with smaller head, they feel like "over the ear" not "on". Also very sturdy, i would be happier if they were softer. So for the moment i don't feel huge improvement in comfort, but velours make them more skin friendly, not so hot, but still ears get hot with time, maybe it is my problem though.

When I think of JVC, the first thing that comes to mind is bass.  I do not associate large bass and the A900x together, but they have a great sound stage for a closed headphone.  The A900x has bass, but it is not emphasized greatly/
