I hate forward and coloured midrange. I hate overemphasize treble. I appreciate good imaging and instrument separation. That's the reason why I am interested in A2000X, a more neutral and laid back and not as 'fun' phones (compared to W5000 and CD300) as described by @XXII.

I am using IEMs for now, and want some 'big' sound

Still lurking a lot in the headphone forum in search of a pair that will suit me.

Try the Kenwood KH K1000. Seriously, they fit your description perfectly.

The A2000X sounds like it could be for you but if I were you I would also consider a Stax SR-202 setup.

@XXII, you read my heart

I am looking into the STAX in the meantime. Currently thinking of SR-2050A. Or better skip SR-202 and SR-303 straight to SR-404? That will be great but my wallet won't allow me to. So you have SR-202 too?

Sorry Artmon for derailing the thread...

KLS: Whereabouts in Japan are you?

The A2000X, the last time I listened to them, had the most messed-up tonality of any headphone I've ever tried. I don't like the mid-forward nature of most ATs either. I'd definitely consider Stax first. If you can go through the rigmarole of getting set up, there are tons of bargain vintage Stax on Yahoo Auctions too.

That’s exactly why I prefer them. Remember: I love classical music!

Hi Currawong,

I am living in Ibaraki. Yes I always browse through Yahoo Auction looking for some headphones and IEMs. But those vintage STAXes are expensive, plus I have little knowledge on them (never really look through the STAX thread from the first post to the last).

I would like to spend not more than $500 for my home setup... In fact the Kenwood KH-K1000 is interesting, and about half the price of A2000X and SR-2050A.

Cuz you're doing it wrong.

Edit: I think I might know what you mean, but I don't think it was that messed up. You should hear it again, but with over 500 hours of use/burn-in. Before that it has some nasty treble spikes that don't really help. Not sure how the headphone will continue to change with more time.

Hey guys, Wondering if you can help me here. My newly purchased D5000 quickly developed some cable damage, which I was not happy about. They had great sound and now i'm thinking I should try something new like maybe the A2000x or W1000x. my listening Prefers are as following: Jazz, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, and Rock. Which do you think?

You probably can't go wrong with either. Probably W1000X might be your best choice for your preferences, not sure. So did you get the D5000 fixed, however? That is an excellent headphone from what I've read.

J&R have them and asked me what I would like to do. They did sound good though, but just undecided at the moment. Thanks for the response.

So I decided to stay with my D5000 and, I ordered a pair of ES10's.

Did anybody do a good comparison between either the A1000X or A2000X on one side and the A900Ti on the other side yet? I'm interested!

A2000X is top-of-the-line in the ART Monitors. What more needs to be said?
