I'm interested in getting a NFB-28 but would like to know if there a 2015 edition coming out soon?
Isn't that such a rare commodity in the audio market? Maybe Kingwa is the only one. He doesn't make grandiose statements about his products. He doesn't try to sell you the most expensive product he produces with wild claims about how the most expensive thing will produce x, y, and z sound characteristics like you've never heard.
I have a lot of respect for that attitude, and it's certainly becoming rarer to find.
The master 9 is $1550 and NFB-27 is $1530 it's just for $20
in your opinion what is the best ? M9 or 27
PS: I have Bifrost from schiit as a DAC
Despite the success of his business, Kingwa sticked to his DIY-ish approach to his business. He doesn't try to sell the most expensive gear, nor creating big buzz about this products. Headfi is moving towards the direction of Hifi. Expensive and flashy gears with strong marketing lines are shaping up good business, AGD is rarity.
Maybe somebody else who has actually tried the Bifrost can give their thoughts.
I haven't heard the Bitfrost, but I heard the higher tier Mjolnir/Gungir combo on two head-fi meets, and preferred my previously owned NFB-28 to them. The Audio-GD sound was smoother and easier to listen to, while the Schiit combo was brighter and more forward/aggressive sounding (sorry for the lack of better/proper words). The Schiit was decent, but not great for my tastes/preferences/etc.
To compare with Master 9, I think the equivalent amp in the Schiit line is Ragnarok. Would be one hell of a battle.

I've heard both the Bi-Frost/Lyr and the Mjolnir/Gungnir and owned those set-ups as well as the NFB-28 and NFB 10.33. I would love to hear the Rag and the 9 side by side though, that would be a hell of a shoot-out.
As far as Schiit VS Audio-GD, I feel as if they both have a house sound and they both do that sound incredibly well. The Schiit sound to me is a little punchier, stronger and has a larger soundstage, while the Audio GD sound is smoother, has a blacker sense of space, and more liquid/forward mids and engaging qualities to the sound.
The Ragnarok has more liquid mids than Master-9.
More cohesive sound overall, while the M9 focuses more on separation.
Sold the M9 and kept the Rag in the end. Better match with HE-6 for my tastes. Did not get to use the M9 with ACSS, though (I have a M7).

I've been looking to upgrade and have been reading a lot about the NFB-28. The reports of clicking sounds during listening is making me hesitate. How prevalent is the problem? Is it just isolated to a few units?
Other units I've been considering: Bel Canto 2.5, Mytek 192 DSD, and Yulong DA8.
Any comparisons would be really helpful, too!

I have a problem with NFB 28.
Between an audio track and the next, I hear a click digital, only from the left channel audio.
I have the same problem with the "low to high gain and reverse" the remote control.
I wrote a Mr.Kingwa, following his answer ..
It is possible that I have to hear this "digital click" between two audio tracks?
No one has had the same problem?
Thank you, Roby.
Kingwa's reply:
Dear Sir,
The click sound is the mute sound.
The NFB28 for the better sound quality, the mute design by the relays, not like other brands applied the logic chips.
So if change the files types, the mute will active and after the music playing it will stop mute.
You can try to take off the headphone, change the music, listen on the NFB28 see if can hear the relays click sound from inside.

.... It should also cut down on noise, which is my only complaint.
