So. After waiting months for these things, I should have expected a mixed experience. I find that they will only work when plugged into USB 3 ports. Was not aware of this. A couple PCs I have plugged them into do not register them at all, possibly due to not having USB 3, .
The mobius works with USB-A and USB 2 Ports without any issues. It is not limited to USB-C

Mine arrived today. I never got an email. Not a huge deal.

First impressions:

  • Copper color is nice. Subdued. The blue in the photos looks a bit bolder, but not as polished.
  • Nicely packaged. Impressions matter!
  • USB C cable is short for my needs. Luckily, as an Android (Essential PH-1 - there are dozens of us!) and an iPhone user, I got cables.
  • Comfortable. I've discussed getting a head injury earlier in this thread. These blow away the AKG K7xx. More comfortable than the HiFiMan HE4xx by a slight bit; about on par with the Sennheiser HD6xx. I've been wearing them for 2 hours in a WoW raid and just starting to get the hot spot on the top of my head. Heat in the cups is a bit more, but easy to release the heat.
  • Sound quality is quite good. Bass is planar magnetic goodness - quality without being boomy. Compared to the HE4xx, the mids sounds more defined to my ears; I'll have to listen to them both for treble. I can't compare to the K7xx since I don't listen to them anymore (I need to sell them!) and don't have enough gaming time with the HD6xx.
  • The headtracking thing is very cool - in a game like WoW, I don't turn my head as much. I am curious to see how it sounds with a huge open game like NoMansSky or a shooter.
  • 3D sounds good in WoW. I'll test with other games when I can.
  • Did I mention these are pretty comfortable?

hey man, the mobius is going to look like a fat car tyre very soon instead of a sleek spaceship.

I experienced a significant amount of latency in the microphone input via Bluetooth connection. I wonder if anyone else here feels the same scenario and the corresponding feasible solution.
