Audeze LCD-X

The LCD-x is still too heavy and the pads are angled not the drivers. And it has an extra 1000$ on top. That's why this is the first Audeze that will be a bad investment, you're going to see them going for a bit over half price on the second-hand market, like the rest of the overpriced high-end stuff.

What data are you basing this on? The few used LCD-3s I have seen are running at around 80% of new.

With the cable right? Otherwise it's 100 grams more than the LCD-3 and 160 grams more than the LCD-2 Bamboo.
Weak of Audeze not to put the weight of the X on their website under specs.

Smacks of coverup to me tbh. The Audeze are heavy, period. The newer offerings are even heavier. But somewhat uncool not to publish it really.

LOL.  That aluminum ring must be as thick as that one picture indicated then.

Don't forget the Fazors, which look to be 4 sets of solid aluminum too.

The LCD-X at the Chicago meet had the vegan pads and headband which were very soft and comfortable (IMO) but the weight is substantial.  Soundwise, I'd almost call them an LCD2.5.... not quite as good as the 3's but better than the 2's in most other areas.

It's 1.43 lb vs 1.14lb

I couldn't get it exact, but I just put a book on my head that weighs just slightly over 1lb  and another that weighs just under 1.5lb. I swapped them out on my roommates head to see if she could tell the difference, and she could not...and neither could I.

If the comfort of the LCD-2 isn't bothersome, then an extra 3/10 of a lb isn't going to make any difference. If the comfort of the LCD2 is an issue, they wouldn't be interested in the X anyway.

I wish the headband had similar cushioning to the earpads. Honestly, having a heavy headphone and a relatively hard headband isn't the best idea.

I agree 100% since owning the LCD-2's and being tortured by the headband, the comfort of a headphone is now near the top of the list. I had resorted to placing some soft foam between the headband and my skull to be able to listen to them for more than an hour.  The weight of the headphone never bothered me, but it seemed like the headband contacted my skull exactly in one of those stitched creases where there is 0 padding at all.

I will say the vegan pads and headband were super plush and comfy, but I'm not sure how they hold up long term.
