At least you'll have the opportunity to directly A/B the two once you get the 5s inThat's what I'm thinking. I love the lcd-4's sound and not sure brighter and more treble is going to make LCD-5 a keeper for me.

Audeze LCD-5 Review, Measurements, Interview

They look nice, although not the price. I wish they weren't 14 Ohms though. From everything we know about the LCD4 series, the higher Ohm models seem to sound better.

i think you should look at lcd5 like a lighter lcd with correct tonality in the mids (actual pina gain)
True, but to be fair, these seem like a significant departure from the LCD-4 and shares more with the new CRBN at first glance. They look nice. I wish they weren't 14 Ohms though. From everything we know about the LCD4 series, the higher Ohm models seem to sound better.

Love the new design! Can't wait to see how it cascades from the flagship to any lower tier models, or models that fit my listening tastes more. Audiophiles demanding lean/bright neutrality is fine but it leaves a lot of the rest of us out of the picture. I don't necessarily want Audeze to lose their house sound just to be like all the other players.

Early 009 batches had many issues afaik.I would not buy an Audeze headphone again when it is first released (or in the first year). First batches of LCD 2v2.1 & XC collecting dust on my shelf - many of the sonic issues were allegedly fixed with the same model types several years later ...
Furthermore, Audeze production tolerances vary so much (batch to batch?) that I would only purchase with an agreement to be able to conduct an extensive trial at home (there is at least one dealer I am aware of who offer 360 day returns - would strongly consider them for Audeze).
My 2 Cents. Preordered new Stax instead.
Yep, 16mm smaller than the LCD-4.interesting that the driver is smaller and single sided magnets
But credit to Audeze for reducing the weight by 270g compared to the LCD-4, that must have been challenging

Borderline bright sounds like a nice way of saying bright.
Better? Why? Closer to the Harman is one thing, better anotherThe frequency response looks a lot better than lcd-4, more ear gain and closer to Harman target
