Don't insult me. You aren't one of the cheap ass cogs.Reviewing for me is part of the hobby so not as prolific as others, lol, but I bought the 5 with my own money. Hope to receive it sometime in November.

I was afraid of that happening. I wasn't sure how they could keep up w/ demand from dealers and then this trade-in offer. It's a big pain to send the trade in and have to wait.Damn, just went from 1 week wait for my trade in to a 4-5 weeks due to a part shortage.

Given that changing the headband in an LCD-5 looks to be a 10 second job, is there any possibility in the future of Audeze offering an alternative band with reduced clamp force for people who may have an issue with the current clamping force? I have some structural issues in my jawline that makes really even light pressure quite unbearable. When I bought my LCD-2 years ago one of the first things I had to do was bend the spring steel headband and cut the clamp force approx. in half. This has its downsides of course..... if I tilt my head forward too much they'll quite literally fall off my head, and I have no doubt I am compromising the seal to some extent, but they were flat out unbearable to wear without this modification. With the clamp force being distributed into a more narrow area now due to the concave pad shape I think it's very very likely I would have trouble.
The LCD-5 is now using carbon fiber so there is no user modification possible for people like me who really need less clamping force.
I guess that's just a loaner, not a $4500 gift, so I fail to see what's so wrong about it.This is me, reading that review:
- Pastes "https://headfonics.com/audeze-lcd-5-review/" into browser tab address bar.
- Reads "The Audeze LCD-5 sent to us is a sample in exchange for our honest opinion."
- Closes browser tab.
On a less critical note (let's hope), I'm expecting my pair to arrive tomorrow. Didn't have the opportunity to exchange my honest opinion in order to obtain one, unfortch.

No, I'm not, but sometimes when I jump to newest unread it jumps further. I probably block too many cookies and it messes with the forum functions. I can see now that this has been discussed and answered already. You’re new to this thread, right?

There's a perception by some that reviewers who receive loaners are biased (consciously or not) toward positive reviews, or else they will be less likely to receive equipment in the future or to have manufacturers advertise on their websites. There may be a grain of truth to that, but reviewers can also code negative impressions as faint praise. I don't really have a problem with loaners, as it increases the amount of information available. Ultimately, the reader is responsible for assessing the credibility of any review. YMMV.I guess that's just a loaner, not a $4500 gift, so I fail to see what's so wrong about it.
They could just as well buy a pair and send it back within the return window. Okay, they save on shipping/restocking fees... but then what?
How does a free loaner create bias, what's their gain?

Well there is truth to that, but if the Reviewer has bought the gear with his own money he also is subconsciously biased to justify his spending to himself, usually leading to positive reviews. There's a perception by some that reviewers who receive loaners are biased (consciously or not) toward positive reviews, or else they will be less likely to receive equipment in the future or to have manufacturers advertise on their websites. Nice tryI'll redeem myself and address something that didn't necessarily get a definitive answer. I work in an industry that works heavily with carbon fiber. To those of you asking the question "will it loosen up or stretch at all over time" I can tell you that it will not. Most assuredly not to any degree you would actually be able to fee/notice. It will either return to it's original shape or it will break.
