Just notice something worth mentioning.

If you move the headphones forward relative to your ears, and let the back of your ears rest on the back of ear pads inner wall, I notice a huge increase in bass and soundstage.

The R.2's need burn in.  Lots of it.   200-300 hours is when it will finally be done.  There is nothing magical about that number,  it's just what happens. Most of the changes happen in the first 50 hours.   The better your source and amp the better it's going to perform.

So the R.2 is now the new K702.  That's definitely good for a quick laugh.

It can take your brain at least 50 hours to burn in to the sound from them, that's for sure. Listening exclusively is recommended.

Reference to how long it took for the 702s to burn in before they sounded better.

Actually there's a lot more to that statement. It was very loaded especially when you consider who said it!

I'm still pretty new around here, but that's what I got out of Subtle's post. Care to share?

R.1 or R.2?

R.2.  I got them from TTJV.  I know I'm supposed to give them time to burn-in, but they blew me away.  This is the most logical step up for any Denon D7000 user.

I remember the days when you talked about getting one in the Fall

Indeed.  Now that day has come, and I am very happy with my decision.  It's a very different headphone from anything I've owned in the past, but I'm enjoying it very much.
