Herp, I didn't see the "purchase" section.  And it's not $5000, it's only four grand.

$3950 without headphones.  I imagine the $5000 includes both headphones and the balanced ALO cable.

You can buy it separately.  The amp itself is $4000.

In that case I'll take two.

The 3950 price is for the 'System', which includes the amp/dac, an LCD2, an ALO cable, and a case.  Not cheap -- but not 3950 for the amp.  The web page is a bit confusing and should be revised.

WoooHoo! My replacement LCD's are here and they look lovely. I lucked out as the grain of the wood is even more spectacular and it is a slightly deeper tone as well which helps accentuate it more. Just plugged them in and of course they sound wonderful! Audeze even threw in another polishing cloth and bottle of wood wax. The serial number of these is 5312350.

Here are some pictures, first is the previous pair followed by the new pair to show the difference in wood finish and then lastly the two graphs first is the original pair second is the replacement.

The graphs, as I said, first is the returned pair.

Thanks again to Alex and Sankar, your service and commitment to customer satisfaction is second to none both in terms of excellence of sound quality and excellence in customer service!

The second one looks really nice, better than the first, I agree. The graph of the first looks better though!

On listening to some tracks i know by heart with the old pair the graph differences don't seem to make a whole lot of difference!

I'd argue the second chart is better. In the second one, less of the frequency range above 1000 Hz is >1% away from the median. In the range below 1000 KHz, both charts are almost evenly matched despite the second line being more wiggly: they're both no more than +- 0.1% from median. In addition, in the second chart the slope that starts at 1000 Hz is more gradual.

I wouldn't worry about the dramatic tail-off above 20K in the second chart, because the first chart doesn't even go that high. It should be effectively inaudible anyway.

Please read the detailed response to this from Audeze on their website. it shows they have faced this issue square on and dealt with it. I feel absolutely secure in my new set being fine but the way things sometimes go if something does happen I know from personal experience that the problem is resolved beautifully. Just order and get immersed in the music, I think you won't regret it!
