Depends which elements in music reproduction you hold important. You can't save a krappy source with good headphones if you want good pace, dynamics and pitch accuracy.

Then again, one cannot perceive whether or not one's source is any good with crummy headphones.

IMO,  they are all of equal importance, source, cans, amp.

Do you mean a chain is only as strong as its weakest link?

I've gone from the HD580 (basically the same as the HD600) to the LCD1 and then to the LCD2.

The LCD1 already beats the 580 in every way, IMHO. The LCD1 has a nice 3D headstage, no nasty peak around 4k (if I recall correctly where it is on the 600/580), and plenty of air. Not deeper bass than the 580/600 though. The LCD2 adds lovely deep bass, improves the headstage, and subtracts some air.

I think the LCD2 will be worth having a listen to if you want to upgrade from your HD600.

Could anyone tell me how they compare to the HD 600?

I am looking for something with great tonal balance like the HD 600, but with much better detail, and a solid bottom end, instead of only punchy mid bass.

I love my D7000, but it is not the most neutral headphone, although it is much more neutral to these ears than I have read. I like the low end response a lot, the imaging and tone are great, but they get crowded. Basically I would want something of an open D7000 with better detail if possible.

How long did it take for Audeze to send you information after you emailed them to be on the list?  I've tried calling and emailing, and have yet to get a hold of anyone.

Listening to Ramsey Lewis's "Love Serenade" right now on the LCD-2 - all I can say is WOW.  I have had more WOW moments in the first weeks of owning the LCD-2 than any headphone I remember.

Thanks for that! Seems very promising...

I wonder why the protection doesn't protect..but break-down. I never care the resolution factor if these guy's ain't reliable. Build robustly and loaf at the sweet spot of the parts/components and you don't need over-protection (or that much). Fuses have always's been an audible weak link...but something other than smoked resistors should give! Hmmm..the resolution that these promise...maybe it might be worth it. Hard to back away...ain't it?
