Audeze LCD-1

Yeap. I am working as a supply chain specialist in production company so I am fully aware how it looks like.
I am wondering right now how my issue with cracked headband will end as our local distributor confirmed that there is nothing on stock. For sure I would like to avoid over month of waiting for new batch. But as of now I am still waiting for confirmation if the service accepted the complaint.
There's no reason for us to deny you. Your local distributor will likely ship your broken unit to us, and we'd give you a replacement B-stock LCD-1, which we do have in stock for warranty purposes such as yours, and will come with full warranty apart from minor cosmetic damage (if any).

Guys, an update. Sorry about the mix-up.

This month we are fulfilling most of whatever orders exist, but LCD-1 production is halted afterwards. I would not anticipate new stock of LCD-1s until further notice.

Thanks for the update, @Mad Lust Envy -- sad to see the LCD-1 being retired, but I actually think Audeze's willingness to let models age out is just common sense. They did the same with the Sine and EL-8, both of which I have and like (the EL-8 models more than the Sine, though).

I'm curious to see what they might come up with next. :)

This is I believe the main reason why I received yesterday an answer from local service that I will receive asap full cost refound for my LCD-1 with cracked headband which obviously speaks well of the producer.

AUDEZE LCD-1 BALANCED CABLES AVAILABLE.

I ordered the balanced Audeze LCD-1 cable in 3 feet / with Pentaconn 4.4mm balanced plug.

The difference with this ONE model in terms of balanced configuration is both 3.5's require a positive pin configuration (due to the swapable 3.5mm configuration Audeze used).

It works perfectly!

Great custom builder - reasonable pricing - excellent shipping - Perfect Cable!

2 years here of Lcd 1.
I really like this pair of cans they've boosted my production efficiency by a lot, I've basically wrote 3 album (+ more music) with them in less than 2 years and I'm really pleased of their sound (and how they traslate), which for me could be described as very pleasing and reliable (especially with canopener + reveal or whatever).
I really like the small portable format, as I really hate to have big cumbersome cans which are basically a pain in the ass to bring everywhere (like K701 for example, which I have and I like somehow), also they are sooo easy to drive allowing me to finally get rid of any Dac/Audio Interface which are truly inconvenient most of the time. Unfortunately my big concern about those cans is that literally they broke (1 week ago) in the same place as other users reported (the junction between the earpad/driver and the headband) after 2 years of regular easy everyday use in a totally safe environment. Fortunately the store I've bought them offer 3 years warranty so I've sent them back to them for repair/substitution. But since they feel quite weak in that area (somewhat like design flaw) I'm afraid it will happen again someday in the future which is not really cool for a 400 buck pair of cans. So yeah I'm not sure if I'll stick with those forever even if I really would like to. I'm undecided if I should keep them and be trustful that they won't break again in 2 years, or sell them upon return and buy myself something more reliable (I was looking also at Neumann Ndh 20) which seems really cool, and I should be able to run them directly from the headphone output of my Mbp too.

Reading the last two pages it's not clear whether it's a parts supply problem for the LCD1 or that Audeze has decided not to make it any more. I think the company needs to be clear on this point. If they do phase out the LCD1 I wonder what they will replace it with. The LCD1 allowed me to get into planar headphones without breaking the bank and also forced the hand of a couple of other HP companies in trying to match what they had done. Also, sound wise the LCD1 diverges from what you normally hear from planars and it suits my listening tastes well so I suppose I got lucky when I decided to get them. I tried out a pair of LCD2s and noticed some significant differences. Obviously a deeper and more impactful bass but the sound was skewed towards a warmer presentation. This is OK for rock/Pop/EDM/Etc but I also listen to a lot of classical music and what I want is tonal and timbral accuracy. To my ears, the LCD1 is certainly better in that regard.

I might pick up another Audeze model at some stage but after owning the LCD1s these for a year I am very happy with them.

LCD-2: classic or fazor? The fazor has a flatter more neutral response. But it still benefits from a gentle lift in the 4k region. I listen mostly to classical and other acoustic music and the LCD-2F is my favorite headphone.

Few days ago I've been taking off my LCD-1 from my head and heard a scary crack noise. Unfortunately the reason of this noise was quickly obvious after first look. Those are less than 1 year old (so still under warranty). Waiting already 3rd day and heard nothing from authorized dealer. I understand those guys are waiting for manufacturer response but at least a short email letting me know somebody is working on this would be more than appropriate I suppose. What are your experiences with Audeze warranty service?

I'm experiencing this myself. Twice now actually. After searching online this seems to be a somewhat common occurrence. A hairline fracture slowly develops in the area until it eventually snaps, there's absolutely a weak point in the headbands design here.

I too owned my LCD-1s for about half a year before this happened to me, on the right side. Sent them to Audeze and they replaced them but after a mere 3 months my new pair has developed small fractures on both the left and right side, in the same exact area, so it's only a matter of time before these too snap.

At this point I'd be willing to pay for a more robust headband replacement but sadly LCD1 owners are being neglected when it comes to options like this.

Bought this after seeing this cable here and it works great! Major upgrade in the sound. Been looking for a balanced LCD 1 cable since I bought it last year and really appreciate this.

Small note: this cable is not swappable on the headphone inputs like the stock one is but it is definitely worth it for the increase in sound quality.

I have also been introduced to the crack in the hinges both sides for my first pair. Audeze replaced it with a new one and i have changed how i take these off of my head. Instead of grabbing them by the cups i literally put my hands on the hinges and pull the entire stem apart from both sides.

Almost a year later now and no cracks or damage seen which is good news. Obviously i am still weary that this might appear in the future and i have started looking for similar or upgraded performance elsewhere without jumping the cost (in the UK these were 400 pound sterling which is about 480 dollars US).

Now i absolutely love the sound and convenience of the LCD1. It's my best and favorite headphone and the sound signature and translation is top tier in my ears. I run it with an Ifi Zen DAC (first Gen) at home and through a BTR5 when i move it around.

Is there any other headphones out there like it with similar design and sound at a similar price to look at?
