I also read the Soundblaster E5 has stored-in-chip EQ (can be set on PC).

None of these is as compact as the Cipher...would be nice to have a usb-c Cipher for PC/Mac...

If you don't need the EQ to be in the dac, Equalizer APO+the Audeze Reveal plugin works great and is free. (But if you move between computers a lot, it wouldn't be practical.)

Also, I didn't know about the E5, that's quite interesting...

Getting the 500s on there is a chore. 600s are easier.

I'd be happiest with a new cypher cable with a USB-C connection (maybe compatible with MacOS as well? ) - but a lightning to USB-C adaptor would also be fine in my eyes.

Although - I imagine that the article you liked to is correct and the aim is to remove ports from the iPhone altogether.

It may not be ideal but I'd buy a portable dac/Amp from Audeze that has all their EQs in it, seems like the best middle ground.

I've also noticed lately that my iSine 20 sounds louber in one ear than the other but I'm not really sure if it's the driver or my ear itself

You can try switching the earpieces to test that, might have to hold them in upside-down, but should be doable for long enough to see if the imbalance is in the drivers.

I think Apple itself will have a lightning to usb adapter when they swich to usb-c completely. Won’t be the case, though, when they remove all ports...

I think the best way is to make a new iSine with New Cipher + mini adapter to klick it on the lichtning pin or from usb C to lightning
