Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones

Guys, would an isine 10 with standard cable be good for metal ( death, doom etc..) ?? Will use with either a Questyle qp1r or opus #1s

I don't really like to EQ but will if needed.. would you say the 10s are more vshaped to the 20? Thanks!

The 10s are not more V-shaped than the 20s or visa-versa. The difference is in the detail more than anything else.
You will need EQ though as they are designed to require EQ, either via the Cipher cable or your DAP EQ.

Maybe a different IEM is worth a look?

Thank you! I guess I should have done a more thorough search in this thread, there seems to be a fair amount of talk regarding EQ and what not.. I was thinking of going elsewhere but keep coming back to the 10 . I'm very used to using EQ but have wanting an iem or similar that doesn't necessarily require an EQ.. I think I'll take the plunge, the 10s seem fair priced :)

I haven't received my i20's, but the sound out of the i10 is simply unbelievable when compared to the typical BA/DD sound.

Bass that has 'clarity' and hits hard.. Treble for ages without any hint of distortion.. Mids that are somewhat forward and crystal clear

Finally.. wide soundstage gives a whole new dimension to how i listen.

My closed iems are mainly for listening to audiobooks, workouts and commuting.

For those who uograded to the i20 after using the 10, is the difference immediately noticeable or is critical listening needed.

Plenty of people talk about the need for eq, but wuite frankly I thoroughly enjoy them straifst out of my DAC. I like darker sounding audio, though. I think they sound fantastic, and the soundstage is awesome. Thoroughly enjoy my 20s asy go-to poetable, as well as my goto for video watching.

Hi. Just wanna ask if the cipher cable fits all iem? Or it’s only for the isines?

The pins will physically fit other .78 mm dual-pin iems, but the DSP built into the cipher cake is configured specifically for iSINE and likely will be sub-optimal at best with anything else.

I wonder why Audeze don't just add an option to cancel all DSP/EQ and sell the Cipher cable as a decent DAC/Amp for iPhone users with different IEMs?

I'm guessing because it dilutes the product/brand focus and/or simply isn't what they're trying to market. Fundamentally Audeze is a premium+ transducer company rather than an amp/DSP/software company and they don't have any need or desire to sell a mild DAC/amp combo cable for general use WELL downmarket of their typical customer. I suspect the Cipher cable was designed as a direct reaction to address the EQ needs of the iSINE line before launch, and the company internally doesn't view Cipher as anything more than an accessory or spare part for iSINE.

I went to RMAF last year specifically to listen to the iSine20. It blew me away, and I tested them using my standard S7 phone. No EQ.
It hurt to spend that much money on 'just earbuds' but I ordered them online within an hour of getting home. Zero buyers remorse once I spent 5 minutes with them at home.
Of the short list of material things that have improved my life, these are absolutely on that short list. I've spent many hours over the last year listening to music, new and old, even stuff that I'd never listen to normally. These things do something magic and they infuse the sound with a sense of purpose and character that I feel but find difficult to describe but obvious in its presentation. As examples, Stone Coyotes Live at the Iron Horse sounds alive with the iSines, while sounding like merely a live recording through any of my other earphones. Same for Stacie Collins. (I realize these are far from the last word in recording quality, but the sentiment stands)
Can you use them for metal? Absolutely!! I do.
Can you use them for <insert genre here>? Absolutely!!
I've found that there is a point in audio reproduction where improvements in the gear only serves to illustrate shortcomings in the recordings. I've listened to music on my rig that was enjoyable, while on a much more expensive and higher quality rig that same recording sounded like dog poo and was painful. The iSines don't do that; so far they've occupied a sweet spot where they make great recordings sounds great, and allow mediocre recordings to punch above their weight.

I feel like I'm wandering, so I'll close with I've never EQ'd them, but maybe someday I'll experiment. After wandering the floors of RMAF, I feel like these things provide me witht the sound of many of those rooms everywhere I go. At work, doing the dishes, typing this post.

You have more balls than I using your 20s over the sink, but I totally agree there's something really special about these. I have and have heard a lot of gear, and the 20s annihilate most of it.

I can't believe anyone could listen to these with the analogue cable and no eq. It sounds unbearable to me, but hey, whatever works for you.

I prefer them EQ'd, but can happily listen to them without if need be. I find them far from unbearable, but better with EQ (bass quantity, vocals).

I'm only rocking to 10s, maybe one day I'll also get the 20s.
